change motor from 4 cylinder to 6 cylinder

i have an 1989 wrangler with a 4 cylinder and was wondering how hard of a job it would to switch to a 4.0 6 cylinder???

Not too hard. Most of the stuff is the same, just add in wiring for two more injectors, get the ECU and some other things. It's one of the easier swaps.

you need to weld new engine mounts and you will need a new trans

Correct, the AX-5 you got will barely hold as it is, muchless anything with roughly twice the power.

AX-15 is a good swap that you'd find with the 4.0 in any manual Jeep.

ok so probably my best bet is to find a parts jeep with good motor and trans what would be a good year jeep? would it be better with another wrangler or cherokee?

As long as you don't grab a 96+ up Cherokee I think you're ok.

Someone else double confirm this for me?

why wouldn't a 96+ cherokee work?

OBD-II would be opening up a whole other can of worms and bring in more head aches from what I've seen people do.

89 is tbi not mpi so he would need the whole harness
