Bikini top

I did a frame off on my CJ and used a YJ tub and the family roll bar so I figured you guys would likely have some good ieads on what to do for a bikini top. What works good?
Thanks
Jim

I have a Bestop safari top.
What I should have done is have a top custom made by a local shop that makes tops for SxS's.
They will cut, bend and powdercoat a custom aluminum top.
No flapping in the wind.

They made one for my CanAm. So much better than the overpriced flapping junk on my Jeep.

Bestop Mesh Top is what I used to run. Come to think of it, I might just go ahead and put it back on this summer. I haven't used it in years. Nice-looking CJ, by the way.

I run an Alien Sunshade in the summer because bikinis seem to flap too much. I actually leave it on all the time and put the soft top back on over it for winter.

Another vote for mesh top.

Especially without spreader bars to secure the sides of the bikini top.

Stop whining about the 'ride' - If your YJ ain't wrangling your soul free, then might I suggest you buy a stationwagon... at least you can fit all your bull**** in the back.

I ran a bikini on the YJ for many years. Finally switched over to a Safari top. Huge difference IMHO and will never go back to a bikini. Safari gives better sun protection and even better rain protection (I know, still a partial top) and keeps the dust out better believe it or not, b/c it slightly changes the air drag. Dust still comes in of course, but there is less with a Safari.

I use the terms interchangeably. My mesh top is technically a safari top, since it does cover the back seat.

I had a rampage, which is essentially a safari top when it's opened up. It got destroyed in the rocks and since I only trailer now I made a safari out of some sort of plasticized canvas I got at an army surplus store. zip tied to the cage and screwed under the old soft top channel up front. melted holes for the zip ties with a soldering iron so they would not fray. Looks pretty good and has held up well. I suppose a full top would fit right over it if I had one

Is the fabric "firmer" than the regular flapping, snapping safari top fabric?

Just wait till I get time and have an aluminum safari top made.

I wish someone made a hard plastic safari top.

very much so. It's almost like strands of plastic woven into fabric and I have no loose corners.

I use the regular Bestop Safari Top and get no flapping. I use this method to force the top to be pulled back and wide as much as possible.

I bought a very light fiberglass aftermarket oem-type top with a missing rear window assembly.

No matter how I cut it or modify it it won’t decrease in value LOL
