air filter conversion on 4.0l engine swap

Hi I am trying to find info for converting my 88 jeep yj air cleaner assembly to the air filter housing on the later yj or TJ models. I am trying to finish a rebuild that someone else started so I have the air filter box but not the know how. Any help would be appreciated

Some background on my project - Its a 88 jeep yj originally had a 4.2l that was swapped to a 4.0l from a jeep grand Cherokee . Also swapped to a AX15 transmission.

Get the tube that goes to the box from the throttle body, connect them all up, and use that to figure out where your air box bracket should be. Connect accordingly.

Ok cool thanks. My last concern would be if the fender is the same shape on the 88 vs the 91 YJ. Im concerned the bracket will not fit up properly to where the air cleaner box should fit on my fender. I dont have the bracket yet otherwise I would just check myself.

You're starting off here...

Before long you'll forget about what stock bracket fits where etc and start building stuff that works for you....

Eh.. Simple mod. Once you find all the parts I think you'll probably need a decent hammer (you know... for adjustments), a few self tapping screws, and a drill motor to run them in with and you're good.
