95 YJ Junkyard Transfer case

I have a friend with a 95 YJ, 2.4L engine, with manual transmission.

He has a bad NP231 transfer case. The trans should be the AX15.

I have not seen any YJ in the salvage yard. There are a number of XJ, ZJ that I can pick from.

Jeep over the years has used different spline counts and shaft designs. What years and configurations would drop in easier?

Thanks

1997 ZJ 4.0 L - Upgraded to heavy 93 sway bar
2004 WJ 4.7 L - 2 1/2" lift
2011 KK 3.7 L

Check Deadjeep.com. It's a Jeep salvage yard in RI. Lots of stuff.
I got an AX15 from them, Very happy with customer service.

If he has the 4 cylinder it is a 2.5. If its the 2.5 he has the AX5 transmission. You can get a Tcase from the junkyard from many vehicles you will need to swap the input from the broken one to the good one
