I do have a meter and these are the codes that come up. I understand only the 15 lights the light. there is no AC.
12* Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles.

15** No vehicle distance (speed) sensor signal detected during road load conditions.

33* An open or shorted condition detected in the A/C clutch relay circuit.

Does the gauge ever move from that position? Check grounds. If those are fine then it's possible the gauge itself is shot. My speedo quit qorking over a year ago. I finally got it working by reclocking it. Instead of my tooth number being at 6 o'clock it's at 9 o'clock. Check that as well, but if the ecm says no input and yet the gauge is pegged I would first check the grounds, including the ground wire for the vss itself.

1995 wrangled when purchased speedometer not working. Unplugged from transfer case. Plugged in and dash lights and hazards flashing, with no power at ignition. Jumped off at starter and ran and speedometer worked. Only way to stop flashing was unplug from transfer case. Has a short could it be at it be at VSS?

You should post up a new thread. If you disconnect the VSS the short can be through the VSS. I don't know how the short could be doing what you describe.

Sensor bad or electrical issues ive replaced the sensor in my yj and still haven't had any luck. wire test is as follows Turn ignition switch to ON position. Raise vehicle. Disconnect distance (speed) sensor connector. Check black wire at sensor connector for voltage. If voltage is about 5 volts, perform distance (speed) sensor test.
If voltage is not as specified, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check continuity between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 13 (White/Orange wire) and distance sensor connector. If continuity exists, replace speedometer. If no continuity exists, repair open in White/Orange wire.

I have a 95 jeep YJ speedo that did not work maybe a short time then nothing. I was a dodge tech their is nothing wrong with the meter . behind the meter their is a connector and just below that one is a other. you will have to buy a plug connecter kit. snap-on tools have this kit. its not much at all. they look like a very small flat screw driver set . each one has a different color , red blue green yellow and some other colors in the kit. you will have to remove each pin from the connector take your time with this project ! after removing one pin at a time lightly sand the pin with 400 grit sandpaper .use these tools to tighten the connector to make a better connection. its takes time but its not hard . if your dash lights don't work or the volt meter doesn't work the connector on the dimmer switch is the problem . the connector on the back of the volt meter this is your problem

It's on 31-10.50's I thought about the gear too but couldn't figure why someone would just change the gear. The case maybe if it got wiped out . It's not even close to being right though.

It's on 31's. The 2.5 probably came with like, 28" tires or smaller. That would definitely make the speedo be off by 10mph or more.

The 4th 5-seater YJ in the world.
