1994 4.0 vs 4.0 ho. what are the pro's and cons.

i desperately want to do a chevy v-8 swap but .... my sweetheart yj is also my daily driver to work and need to maintain some sort of fuel economy. so the idea i had the other day was to locate a decent 4.0ho to slap in. but i am totally unfamiliar to the pros or cons of the ho motor. i know it of course is a different head and i have heard the mains are beefier but other than that i have no knowledge of it's performance as a daily driver powerplant. if i could afford an injection system for the 305ho i have sitting on my garage floor i wouldn't be asking streaming this. so i ask for all your input on this latest brainstorm of mine

I think the OP may be talking about the increase power in the later TJ wranglers. The gains were about 9 HP and 13ft/lbs of TQ, this was accomplished by a head redesign, and distruborless ignition, not worth the hassle to convert at all. I think your only options are a regear, a V8, or a Stroker

If you wanting a V8 then only a V8 will make ya happy. Fuel injection kits can be put together for little to nothing for a 350. Lot of Junkyard write ups on converting to FI.

But I got to ask WHY you want a V8! Is it because you want bigger tires and dont want to regear the axles?
Me, I would rather have a bigger 4 cylinder with turbo on it. Light weight to me is key to keeping other things alive in the drivetrain.

WOAH, big difference then. An HO has almost double the horse power as the 4.2 carbed version.
