Have you tried turning the distributor one way and the other to advance and or retard the timing between trying to start? It's possible it's sitting too far one way or the other to start.
I did have to retard it a bit to finally smooth out the idle.

I went ahead and ordered a PSC power steering pump, pulley, lines, swepflo fluid and a puller. Not sure how long it will take to get here but that is my next project. The steering is what’s keeping me from driving and figuring out what else might need fixing.

On a plus side once I get the steering fixed the fields next to me are cleared and I can run those hills to work out some issues.

Nice... I haven't played around with beer making, but I have been refining my Applejack for a few years now. It has another week or so of fermenting.

Love this thread been reading it start to finish the past few days. Think it will be great benefit to me and my build. Just got an 89 yj with a 4.0 (92) as an early birthday present. A lot of the upgrades you have done are on my list, great to see the time frame and tools it takes and hiccups, as it makes it less frustrating with mine.
