I don't think any of the remote start companies make their systems vehicle specific. They have add-on wiring harnesses to do that, but the base system is identical whether it's going in a Dodge Neon, a Chevy Silverado, a Jaguar XJ6 or a an XJ Jeep. The only difference in the models themselves is the features they offer.

Check the manufacturer's website see if they make the plug in harness for that model to go in an XJ. I know that Bulldog Security does that. They call them "T Harnesses" because of the connection they make. You unplug the ignition switch harness and the T harness plugs in between the stock connectors.

Really. if you have a transponder key. your much better off going to a shop. if its a basic key that you can get replaced at a local hardware store. go ahead and try. I did a viper on mine. works excellent!

that remote start should work fine for you 01 XJ. if you do have a transponder key you will need a DEI 556UW but I don't believe you do. you hook it up and put the extra key in it. you should also need a DEI 451M for your door locks if you plan on hooking them up. the negative signal provided for the lock and unlock wire are not enough to trigger the Cherokees door lock actuators.
