Unicorn non clip Dana 35. . need wheel bearing and seal

My kid blew the rear end in his xj by letting the fluid run out. It's stock height and I wouldn't trust him with lifting it yet. My plan was to save some money (reusing his drive shaft , breaks if needed etc) so I specifically went looking for a Dana 35.

I had some trouble but I finally found one and and jy said it was from a 96 well I think they lied to me or maybe it was swapped in what they pulled it from. Regardless I'm guessing form like a 89 or older but I have no idea

It's a non c clip Dana 35 and had a leaking axle seal. The inside looked ok and didn't notice at the time it was a non c-clip.

It need an axle seal, bearing, retainer, break shoes and I'm betting wheel cylinders. Everyplace I called only has c clip parts regardless of how old I tell them the axle is.

Anyone know for sure when non clip Dana 35s were available or even better part numbers for the stuff I need to make this work.

I

From the forum's sticky "Cherokee stock specs":

Dana 35 non c-clip - 27 spline, 1.18" diameter shafts, 7.58" ring gear, 2.62" axle tube - used 84-89
Dana 35 c-clip - 27 spline, 1.18" diameter shafts, 7.58" ring gear, 2.62" axle tube - used 90-01

Try looking for 89 parts on rockauto.com and see what you get.

Look on the axle tube and you should find some numbers. The pic below show the "Bill of materials" (BOM) for my 88. Note that mine is 605389-6. The space becomes a hyphen "-". Then enter this BOM into the field on this Dana Website.

Then click on the search result for additional details

For others in need...my 84-98 axle was not stamped as above but I was able to sort it out

Inner seal national 473214
Bearing /retainer national a-9
Outer seal national 2146

The breaks are 10" but the hardware is a different story and I ended up with allot of different stuff to find reasonable replacements
