Considering the low amount of weight you'd want up there anyway, a Surco will suffice. I just put mine on with the factory roof rack mounts. I can grab it and shake the jeep around just fine. Very sturdy.

Oh yea and its cheap. www.summitracing.com

Ditto. I bought the 45x60" size and the J100 adapter kit to mount the rack to my factory rails.

You can see some photos of other people's surco's here:

And here are a couple of pics of mine:

Surco works just fine, I have my 31" spare, shovel and Hi-lift mounted to mine. Plus I have several offroad lights. Its lightweight and does the job. Most people that think there not capable have never had one.

You're right, however ... How much weight do you really want to put up there in the first place? Steel racks can easily hold more than the roof itself.

Is there any way you could get a close up of how you mounted your lights onto your surco? I've got 6 wal-mart lights im gonna put up there and im not sure on how to go about mounting them yet.

I just got my surco installed and love it! It's the 45x50 incher and I think it's more than strong enough for what I want to put up there (camping stuff, hi-lift, off-road lights, etc.)

But, how did you mount your hi-lift, shovel, and lights to your rack? Did you buy the surco mounts? I can't hardly see spending the ridiculous amount for the one's online. If you fabbed up some homebrewed mounts can you post some pics? Thanks.

The Surco mounts are expensive. I used the Surco tire mount and used a modified 4xrac Hilift mount for the jack and Ubolts for the shovel. I used 2'' angle for the light mounts.
Heres a few pics.

After building about 1000 of them at work, I actually don't mind our roof racks. I work for Warrior Products. The only part I don't like on them is the WP badge in diamond plate, but thats because I hate diamond plate with a passion.

http://www.rjroffroad.com/Warrior-Je...-pr-16749.html

Anyways, they gutter mount, but have a much higher pricetag than a surco. That link above has a free shipping deal, which is nice because they have to be truck frieght shipped on a pallet because of their size. Don't mistake this for advertising, I don't get paid to promote Warrior, and I get paid hourly. But there are a few things we make that I wouldn't mind having myself, like our bumper and maybe a rack.

Oh and if you want to mount to your existing rack, I have a couple shipping damaged cheapies on ebay right now. I think my sig still has a link to my ebay stuff in it.
