right back light cluster no working

The right rear light cluster doesnt work. kinda. the reverse lights, parking lights, brake lights and blinker does not work, unless the right front passenger door is open
if it is open they work. if i push on the door jamb switch the lights go out. if i pull the switch out of the connector the lights go out
i ordered new switch to see if this corrects the issue but what a weird wiring issue
havent yet looked at the wiring schematic to see why the power is routed this way or figure out the link to power short
anyone else have this issue?

What kind and year of Jeep. The door switch provides a ground. The symptoms point to a ground issue as that is the only thing that is common to all the lights. Though for the life of me I've no idea what could be wrong. IIRC there is a ground connection behind the panel. Remove the panel, look for a ground (screw with a star washer) it should be on a frame member.
