removing center console..how??

hey everybody

i started prepping for herc'ing the inside of my jeep last night, and got all the seats out, and all the carpet, but cant get the center console out for nothing. i opened the "top" part of the console, removed 2 bolts there, pulled out the cover where the gear selector is, and removed 2 bolts there, and then up towards the dash there was just 2 clips. with everything removed still nothing wants to budge..what am i missing???

thanks

What year? From the sound of it though you're talking about x-96 not 97-01. Did you check under the 4wd selector

Uumh.. if I remember correctly, you need to remove both gear selector and 4wd selector plates, there are screws under that. There are also some screws under the center console box, you have to remove the inside of it.. I think.. removed mine last summer, there really wasn't too many screws holdinging it in place.

It might need some wiggling to be able to remove it with the e- brake handle on, but its doable. You do need to remove the gear selector T- handle though..

Im not sure if this will help.

The "middle black part" is held into the other part by snaps. I don't know if this NEEDS to be snapped off in order for you to remove it, all I know is it made my removal 100x easier (to clear manual trans shifter).

Anyway I also found that removing the black part will break the snaps, rendering the add-on cup holder useless because it's not held in the same.

GG!
