My power windows switch is intermitent on my passenger-side door as well. Talking to a guy on an XJ list, he has repaired a couple and generally he found that either cleaning the switch or resoldering a crack solder joint usually did the trick.

Just thought I would mention it in case you might feel inclined to rip apart the switch, prior to buying a new replacement.

You've got the same problem as I and many other owners on here have. You don't need to replace the passenger side switch, because that will basically leave you with the same problem anyway. I believe the problem starts on the driver door. I'll try to find the write up some where and post it up.

I haven't forgotten about it. I have been lookin for a couple days and I can't pull it up anywhere. I thought I had it saved under my favorites but I don't. I'll do a couple more searches see what comes up. I'll let you know later I gotta run out now for a little while.

well im pretty sure every XJ owner evr has this problem

but what is going on is that the plug going into the switch is loose and will cause the passenger windows to work intermittently

*how to fix this problem*
1. there is a link with a way to bypass the child window lock which will perminatly fix the problem !but i dont know where this link is)

2. you can also hit the side of the door on the inside and it will temporarely fix it

3. or you can take apart the door panel and secure the top plug going into the window lock with tape or some adhesive, this is what i did and i havent had a problem since

Btw, McGrobe, I like your Bushwacker pocket flares. I had those on my last TJ...loved them.

Thanks on the BW compliment. My switch works similar to yours. Sometimes nothing, occasionally somethin. If I start it from the driverside, then usually it will work from the passengerside.

I have some work to do that involves taking the door panel off when the weather gets warmer, so I will look into the switch problem at the same time.

That wasn't the link I was looking for, but I guess it would work. I got back a little while ago and was looking/searching for it and still can't find it. I'm sorry.

if it happens again, try the the switches on the rear doors. This will let you know if its actually the passenger door switch or the very common drivers side window lock switch going bad. you can search my posts for the fix to the driverside window lockout switch problem.

This is what I used to fix my window problems. It is 97+ Power Window Fix w/pics dated 06-30-2006. Did it and it worked great. Phil
