Odometer correction

I just got a replacement instrument cluster for my 2000 XJ se 4.0 4wd. I hated the one it came with: Speedo plus a bunch of warning lights, nothing else. My new one has lower mileage than the one I’m taking out, and I live in a rural area - no speed shops anywhere near me. I REALLY want to avoid having a title that says incorrect mileage and would like to add miles to the replacement cluster. Dealer won’t do it. Does anyone know of a Mail in service so I don’t have to buy the tool?

I came across this in my daily stalking of Ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/154510295426

But they are selling clusters that they will put in the mileage you want.
Now since you already have the cluster here is what I would try.
Contact them and see if they will just change the one you have.
Now I know nothing about them. Quality of their work, etc but it might be worth at least contacting them.
Awhile back, I think in this forum, I had a similar conversation with somebody.
Memory not being what it used to be can't remember who or in what thread.
But there is a DIY procedure to do this.
I might be able to locate the links I posted to do this.
Frankly looked way to involved and so far over my head that I wouldn't try it.
But the guy who I told about it seemed confident he could pull it off.
Maybe whoever it is will see this thread and respond.

Well these folks provide the service if the cluster is good. You can find others by searching on "Odometer Correction"

https://www.automotivecircuitsolutio...15972550508595

However, you should check the law in your state. Typically, the there's no law that says you have to adjust the odo. The law says you must "disclose" the actual mileage when selling to avoid fraud. Some states provide a form to fill out that document the cluster swap and the "before" and "after" mileages.

yeah I checked those guys out and their price is too steep, but thanks. Pretty sure my Jeep is mileage exempt since it’s 21 years old; I just want an odometer that’s got the real mileage so I do t have to do math! 😂

So apparently my memory is more shot then I thought. The conversation about changing the mileage was in my own thread "If You Are Looking For XJ Parts" thread.
That is just sad. LOL.

So I had posted this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ODOMETER-CO...9by002vgx00004

And that is the same seller for the first link I gave you. So they will just change an odometer if you send it to them.
Also that DIY that I mentioned. Figure post it here just for the hell of it.
