NSS and brake pedal related?

Lately I have had an intermittent starting problem. The lights don't work and the instrument cluster is dim like a dead battery, turn the key and barely a click. Jam my foot on the brake and everything lights up and the thing cranks right over and fires. I haven't noticed any other symptoms that lead me to the NSS but I have been reading a lot of intermittent starting threads and NSS seems to be a theme.

Those who say it cannot be done should be quiet and not interrupt those whom are doing it.

Next time it happens, shift into neutral an drock teh shifter back and forth in Nuetral. then try to start it. If it starts, then the NSS is more than likely gummed up.

The brake has a cable to the shifter lock out. It should not affect anything other than possibly wiggling the shifter housing enough to make solid contact with the NSS.

Hell, next time it does it, put the key in OFF position and rock the shifter handle around in Park and see if that changes anything. If it helps, then once again the NSS is probably gummed up.

Personally, for whatever reason, I disconnected my brake lock out and have never had any staring issues with that being the cause.
