Is the kick down cable as you call it the same as the throttle control cable?
Part number for that is 52077578 in my '00 parts catalog.
If so looks like Mopar ones are still available, not cheap, and there is aftermarket support.
Which is cheaper. LOL.

No Ralph this is the trans cable and a different animal..... didnt even know I had an issue till I was hooking it back up and the frays left me bleeding. damn. I ordered one from dead jeep for 20.00 expectations are low though as I have not had good luck with them.

You sure? Cause I found that in the tranny section of my '00 parts catalog.
Even shows one end going to the tranny in the illustration.
Guessing this is what you bought:

I am not an expert but kinda looks the same to me:

Glad to have helped but to be frank assumed I was wrong. LOL.
In the parts catalog they refer to it as a throttle control cable.
But as both you and I know calling it a kick down cable would have been made more sense. LOL.

So what do "they" call the cable that controls the throttle?

Best I can tell they refer to it as a accelerator cable.
Part number 52079504.

That figures, so did I for the 1st 1/2 of my life but throttle cable seemed to be increasingly common.

This is one of the reasons that I feel having the Jeep parts catalogs is important.
First if you can figure out what the part number is makes searching easier.
Also at Napa, and maybe other stores too, they can interchange a OEM part number sometimes.
And find the aftermarket version of it that they sell.
Plus just knowing what Mopar calls it sometimes helps when doing a Google search too.

Yup, I get all that - & parts books very often have the best exploded diagrams (like those that Haynes used to excel in, before they decided to adopt indistinct photos, often leaving you guessing what the subject was).

However getting a manual's difficult enough for us, never mind a parts book - otoh, I've never actually had a problem sourcing parts, guess I've been lucky never needing anything too obscure.
