low oil pressure at idle

It's hovers at about 10lbs at idle, what would cause this? Broken sensor? Or is this just normal? Any help would be great!

Always verify any suspected low oil pressure. There is a possibility that your gauge is not accurate, either because of the sending unit in the block or the gauge itself.

Many parts stores will rent you a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Very inexpensive and in an hour, you'll know for sure. Call around to the parts stores for availability.

The factory spec. for the 4.0 is 13 psi at hot idle, but I've seen many 4.0 engines run for tens of thousands of miles with 10 psi.

You don't want to be chasing your tail. Verify. Test.

If it is 10psi HOT then this is fine. A rule of thumb is at least 10 psi per 1,000rpm up to about 40psi.

With 176k on the clock the clearances have widened so it will not hold pressure lie it used to but you only need to get oil between the moving parts and take away the heat.

I'm really not worried about it, just curious to be honest. I know if something goes I'll just replace it
