How to mount front license plate? (stock)

My front bumper is stock, but I'm trying to figure out how to get the plate on. All I see is two holes on the bottom of the bumper.

Do those hole line up with the l-plate? If so try runnning a couple of big screws in there. Other weise two stainless zip ties in the hole to the plate may also work

Slide the plate from the bottom up, then screw in the 2 bottom screws. The top has a lip to keep the plate in.

You seem to be missing the factory plastic lic plate holder. Get one from the junkyard or stop by the parts store and get a generic one. Add some screws to the bumper and install the plate.

I just bungee'd mine on there... Just took two small bungee cords and wrapped them around the back of the bumper and hooked them to the holes in the plate. Works fine for me... Haven't had it come off on the trails, nor did it cost anything (had the cords).

Still have this? I'm not paying $20+ for one and another $10 for shipping. It's a piece of plastic!

I mean I'm all about using some Maglite clips on the winch roller fairlead of my custom steel bumper once I can afford that setup, but for now I need to get by legally so I don't get pulled over.

If you order a factory plate holder, it should come with the necessary hardware to install it (2x screws, and the square plastic inserts that go into the bumper holes). Takes all of 2 minutes to install, and fits just like it's made for your XJ bumper (beacause it was).
