how many keys?

I have a different key for the door and ignition. Is this normal or has someone potentially swapped out my ignition switch/ steering column in the past?

I have the circuit board in the dome light for keyless entry, is this really a dealer install programming or is it just a complicated programming sequence like all the other cars on the planet? i.e. "stand on left foot, open drivers door, press door locks four times, close door, honk horn while pressing lock button on remote"

its a Jeep thing...

Later Cherokees (1996 ? -2001) had one key to rule them all.

1997-2001 Factory installed key-less entry can ONLY be programmed at the Dealership, or at a repair shop that owns a DRB-III Scan Tool.

mine is a '98, so someone has probably changed out the column. Has anyone rekeyed the cylinder?

On the keyless, I'm assuming the circuit board and remote go together, in case I stumble across one in a junkyard?

I think it can be done easily.
