homemade surco roof rack brackets?

i can't see paying 80 bucks for a surco axe and shovel bracket and close to 35 bucks for light tabs...has anyone made there own. if so does anyone have any pics of how you made them or what you used..thanks

I was not fond for paying that much either. I went to home depot and got a bunch of different size u-bolts with wing nuts and attached my rack that way. I also attached a shovel and hi-jack with u-bolts as well. For security I just use a lock for the hi-jack.

I know at alot of 4x4 shops, they sell a rubber grip for any sort of shovel or axe, and they are only like $10. very secure system, but you can't lock them. I suppose axes are <$20 though, so i'm not too worried about it. I'll try to find the name of the thing for you though......

my jeep has the confused prerunner syndrome....4.5" in the rear and 2" in the front.

Id say go to a home depot or something to see if you couldnt rig something up like Miller said. Or if ya know any shops, maybe they could fab up something for ya.

good idea, i didn't even think of that.... they should work and they are about $10 a piece...only down side is they dont't lock

I made my own light brackets out of angle iron and used ubolts to attach a shovel and axe. I also used Hi- Lift 4xRac to mount the jack.





01 XJ/4" lift/33" DC Muds/Sidebiter Wheels/Surco/ Hi-lift/Pilot lights/Bad Apple Fab diff gaurds/Front and rear receiver hitches/Rusty's LCA's/ Magnaflow/Rubi HD Track bar and Brace/Big Daddy tie rod/TB Spacer/Ractive air intake/ Jet Stage 1/Pioneeer & Fusion Sound/AJ's Super rails/Warn Skid /BW Flat Flares/Bedlined Rockers and Quarters
