Xj high speed death wobble only when I hit a bump

I just bought a used 97 xj. Its a retired service vehicle with a 4.5" lift. I just added a new rough country track bar and bracket bc the guy before me had the stock bar still installed.

I am looking for a reason why I would get death wobble only after I hit a bump at 60mph and up. This happened to me yesterday and I thought I was dead meat. It doesn't get DW while driving, only when I hit a bump.

That just means whatever is worn to cause the wobble isn't BADLY worn yet. Dollars to donuts it'll slowly get worse.

Ball joints, track bar and TRE's should all be inspected, both for condition and proper alignment. Given that the track bar is new unless it's badly adjusted it's probably the ball joints or or steering setup. In addition to a visual inspection and yanking on stuff looking for play, have a friend get in and turn the wheel back and forth lock-to-lock while you look for anything with too much play, making unhappy noises, etc....

Don't let this one sit, it's hard on your whole steering setup and your tires.

Lifted, Locked, Stiffened

Do this ^^. On sand or gravel is a good idea.

Also check control arm bushings, especially the two upper ones
on top of the axle. They are hard to get to so they get neglected.

Check all six bolts on the track bar mount and the track bar socket
end - mine showed up loose about a week after it was replaced.
