Heat soak on power steering pump.

Installed a V8 WJ power steering pump in the 99 XJ. I am pretty sure the heat soak from the exhaust manifold being so close to the pump is what killed my original pump. Anyone ever made a heat shield for this?

Alread have a cooler but noticed a lot of heat transfer to the pump in a short amount of time. Granted the cooler was not installed on the old pump.

Some cheap pump from Amazon. I put the WJ pump in the same time as a hydro assist setup so not sure how much difference it made. Put in a Genright overdrive power steering pulley.

aren't all 4.0s set up with that same power steering set up, i mean 4.0 of similar era? i don't recall this being an issue for lots of people.

i think you could make and mount a shield very easily though. there seems to be ample spots to put a bit of shaped sheet metal in there
