Factory XJ Hidden Winch?

I was looking through the 94-94 xj parts catalog and found on pages 13-710 throught 13-730 parts for a factory hidden winch. What does anyone know about this. I'm curious because I've never heard anything about this, I have seen some custom recessed winches but nothing quite like this.

Here is a long thread about that winch on NAXJA - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24496

Hidden winch option, dealer installed, Ramsey, 6000# rating, 150ft. cable, iron/non-roller fairlead, remote control cable, front plate relocated to one end of the bumper, it was an option on the earliest XJs (I passed on it when I ordered my 85 Pioneer) and I have one on my 90 Pioneer. I just got the above info from a thread on Cherokeeforum.com. Mine works well and I use it in concert with my front 2" rec. hitch and recovery cable block and tackle. Seems like the setup can pull anything. I have never seen one in person...but I have seen pics. Rare option indeed, considering how many XJs were sold. Seems like it would be a popular aftermarket upgrade these days. Cheers and good wheeling!

Bringing this thread back from the dead

This is a very common option in here in Chile. Almost all of the pre-99 sports that I've seen have had the factory hidden winch in the bumper. Pre-97's had them in the bumper, 97-99 had them under it. More to the point and, perhaps to inspire a bit of envy, my '95 Sport has it (along with factory diff, xfer and gas tank skids).

I'll get some nice pics and post them soon..

I'm really liking this. I always prefer to keep my Winch hidden when possible.
Are there any further pics around of this, maybe how it mounts or schematics?

Off to google I go.

Pictures!

And as promised, here are some pictures..

The access port and a better look at the mounting system

Bumper -- as you can see, it sticks out more than a normal Cherokee and has spacer plates to fill the gap.

I have the original Ramsey control.
