I have the disconnects on mine,.. I don't like driving it with the swaybar disconnected - it's too floppy. I would get the discos if I were you.

BTW - The rear one I leave off, the front one is what I'm talking about.

Yea the rear sway bar is not needed at all, some cherokees didnt even come with them, there way to thin and flimsy to even work, that and you dont need a sway bar on a vehicle with leave springs in the back, coils is a different story,i junked mine when i did my lift, i couldnt tell a difference at all,i dont even use my front sway bar, i just leave it disco'd, it leans over more into turns, and i guess the worst part about it is lane changing at about 70 it feels a little weird specially with the wind blowing lol, but as long as you dont drive like a 16 year old highschool girl you will be fine.

Yeah,.. I ripped the rear off a long time ago. I noticed a marked improvement in off road performance when flexing the rear, and only a slight sacrifice in on road performance. It was not nearly as bad as when you disconnect the front.

mine didn't come with a rear from the factory. and my front has been disconnected for 2 years now? mostly because i left it connected and destroyed my disco's

I permanently removed the rear one but I would never leave off the front one when driving on the highway.

Yeah, you don't need a front sway bar at all.

Unless of course, you ever drive the XJ, and then you only need it if you ever have to make a quick turn (like my wife did a few months ago when some idiot pulled out right in front of her). She really didn't "need" the sway bar - she could have just driven into the guy's car or rolled the Jeep.

But if you have an exemption from the laws of physics, or are a Highlander-style immortal, then I'd say you can easily do without the sway bar. Or air bags. Or seat belts. Or brakes.

so my jeep is unsafe because it never came with air bags? along with every other XJ made up until 94?
