CEL

Good Morning all:

First of all I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with a 4.0L. My CEL just cam on this morning and I forgot my scanner at home. So I tried the key trick. I get none of the usual code but I get the number 12 in the odometer section while the CEL flashes once then twice. Then the mileage popped back up. Then the number 27 showed up with the CEL light flashing twice them seven times. The mileage came back up. Them the number 55 popped up with the CEL flashing five times then five time again. Has anyone seen or heard of this? Can anyone help me out? Thanks all.

Take advantage of the FREE scans at many auto part stores... fast FREE easy, post codes someone will give thoughts and details on codes.

When I see the price of OEM I think aftermarket.
When I see the quality of aftermarket I think OEM.

Jtec,

I have a scanner and I can be home by then. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen that pop up before in the odometer area before. I am use to seeing the p codes.

Even though the vehicle is OBD II, 97 XJs like TJs display OBDI codes in the odometer.

27 would correspond to P0201 to P0206, which is an injector circuit code. Injector output driver does not respond properly to the control signal.

Thanks for the input. I found the codes in my service manual. I should have look there first. The 12 code equals the battery has been disconnected in the last 50 starts. The 27 code correlates to what Jonny Jeep says is for my Injectors and the 55 code means end of codes. I will clear and see if it pops up again before I start checking the wiring. Again all thanks.
