carpet soaked under rear seat

hey guys I need a little help. My carpet under the rear seat (in the storage compartment) is soaked.

I was thinking maybe some water got in from a leak in the rear wheel well? Does anyone have any experience with this? I have a 1992 jeep cherokee laredo

How's the rust on the underside? Either get underneath, or even better, pull the carpet and see where the moisture is getting in.

Check above the muffler. Don't know why, but it seems to be a common area. Then check elsewhere as the other post said.
