Best/Worst Mods

There is a popular thread on the TJ forum right now about Mods to avoid. I thought it would be a good idea to "borrow" that idea for the XJ forum.

What are the BEST mods you have done to your XJ, and what are the WORST mods you have experienced? Let the rest of us know so we can learn from others' mistakes.

I pinched this idea from somebody else on here and is without any shadow of a doubt the best and most useful modification that I have ever done to any vehicle.

Second best is my RE 4.5" Superflex Kit with SYE

Worst mod:- Linking my ARB snorkel up to the airbox in the standard way. I should have used EricsXJ method and gone into the airbox from the side.

1998 XJ
RE 4.5 inch superflex lift, RE GEN2 disconnects, 15x8 Crager 352's, 33x12.5x15 BFG MT, ARB Lockers Front and Rear, 4.56 Diffs, Cut & Tap Short Shaft Conversion, CV Rear Prop, B&M Transmission Cooler and Gauge, Bushwackers Cut-Outs, Skid Row Armor, AJ's SuperRails, LeBaron Hood Vents, KargoMaster Rack, Safari Snorkel, KC Daylighters, Midland CB, Brantz Navigation
Loads a mud!!

Well, I'll think of the various mods I've seen... (imagine these in a table, as each item corresponds to a matching item on the other list)

Good mods:
Lift kit
Trimming fenders
Bigger tires
Offroad bumpers
Herculiner
Cowl intake
Bumper tire carrier
SYE
Proper engine maintenance
Dana 44s
Whitespoke steelies, simple alloys
Mud tires
Winch
Upgraded electrical wiring
Full-range 6.5" speakers all around
"Hummer Recovery Vehicle" bumper sticker

Bad mods:
Lowering kit
Body kit
Bigger rims
Fiberglass bumpers
Mirage
Hot air intake
Compact spare
T-case drop
HHO kit
Alloy dana 30 shafts, new carrier, new gears, trussed housing,...
Chrome rims
Slicks
Bumper with no option for winch
Claiming that #8 is perfectly acceptable for a ground wire
Subs
Truck nuts

umm... I'll edit it if I think of more.
