What would the value be?? Is this a rare vehicle ?? Why would they build a cherokee 96 as rear only ?? Did they sell??? Any history on these?? ---- thanks.

Pretty much every style of Cherokee was offered as 2WD. 4x4 is more common but 2WD isn't exactly hard to find. Not everyone needs their grocery getter to have 4WD. Rare? maybe but not in a way that adds value. Yes they sold. In general, most people today are looking for 4WD Cherokees so the 2WD is worth less. Other than that, things like rust, maintenance, and overall condition affect the value quite a bit.

Depends on condition!!
No, they aren't!!
Because it is cheaper and not everyone needs 4wd!!
Yes, they did sell!! Mine used to be 2wd!!
The first 2wd's were made in 87 or 88 I believe... Literally no different aside from an empty axle tube, no transfer case, tranny is shorter and you are missing a driveshaft!! ---- Welcome.

i have a 95 se that is 2wd. just bein 2wd makes it worth half of what a 4wd is. having a 4 cyl makes it a joke. i think kbb has it listed as worth $900 in mint condition in my area.
