FREEDOM-DRIVE I 4WD SYSTEM
"Compass's state-of-the-art electronic four-wheel-drive system anticipates the need for added traction and responds to wheel-slippage by transferring power between the fron and rear wheels. They system also improves vehicle stability in cornering situations by modulating power to the rear wheels." [1] This feature is optional. Standard on a 4x4 model is a select lock 4WD system that changes from on demand AWD to 4x4 HIGH and a 50/50 power split front/rear with a pull of the "T-Bar" switch.
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE
The Jeep Compass Sport has the option for a CVT2 automatic transmission. The CVT2 uses a steel-psh belt and pullys instead of gears for a smooth, efficient driving performance. The result is quick, smooth accelleration without the "jerkiness" of shifting gears.
