cj5 combat 6

Hi , I recently acquired a jeep, cj5, as a project for myself and my son, I found trying to identify the year of manufacture of the vehicle a rather daunting task, but I have now pinned it down to 1969, and I believe that it is a Combat 6, could you help me verify my thoughts,

the vehicle has an identity plate on the passenger side firewall, this plate reads, "Willys Motors Australia Pty Ltd Inc in NSW Vehicle No CJ5 1747"

the vehicle has two piece rear axles, the vehicle has enclosed front cv's there is a number stamped on the chassis on the right hand side above the front springhanger, this number is 499 ( this is consistant with the production number of just over 600 combat 6s) the vehicle has a 6 cyl ford motor (I believe a falcon motor engine number 72 DA 6015 BG which I also cannot age, but think it is a transplant) the firewall of the tub looks like it was done in the factory, and has a large square cutout to fit the 6cyl motor, the cover for the gear stick and the transfer sticks is made of fibreglass, again a very professional job the fuel tank is not a basic oblong box but has a drop down pod which fits neatly beneath the floor level under the passenger seat. there is a pop up vent in front of the windscreen the vehicle had a full canopy and full size doors

if you can help me in confirming the identity and year of the vehicle I would be most grateful.

parts, so far the main parts that I require to get the vehicle up and running are, fuel tank, it was rusted out where it sat in the area under the seat, windscreen frame,, the lower edge of the windscreen frame is rusted out master cylinder for brakes, and two slave cylinders for front wheels

problems, I am still trying to remove the steering wheel from the steering column, dont want to damage the actual steering wheel, so am waiting on a wheel puller.

I thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon, Jock Roger Bathurst 02 63595245 jock@ix.net.au

cheers
