1978 jeep wagoneer

I have a 1978 Jeep Wagoneer that I want to restore. It is in good condition and runs great. I do need help and advise, this is my first jeep and I am at a loss in some of its issues. I need to know more abut the duel battery system. It has a protective device on it for this system but there are no two batteries. Doe's any one on here have any knowledge of this system?
