Hi everyone. I was just wondering what you are seeing gas mileage wise in your libertys. I searched many forums and couldn't find a good answer. I am deciding between a Patriot or a Liberty. I really like both of them but I don't really like the CVT transmission in the Patriot:thumbdown:, and I don't want the manual either. So I am sort of leaning towards the Liberty. Please post the MPG you are seeing in your libertys.
Thanks.

The highest MPG I have seen with my 04 Liberty Sport is 19.5 on a tank. That was almost all highway mileage.

On average, without AC and 4WD, I get 18-18.5 mpg.

I drive a lot of highway mileage.... little local mileage. when I have 4WD and/or AC (summer), I get in the 17s

Ive gotten as high as 38 with my CRD. Long highway day at 60 mph. Ive gotten as low as 24 all city driving. Average around 30-32 is normal.

I like how the CRD people brag about how many miles per gallon, but yet per gallon diesel is more expensive to buy so who is really winning.
Plus if I have to drive 55 , with the mirrors folded in, holding my breath, not using AC to get that then is it worth it in the long run?
just saying....

here you go cruising up the road, 32 inch tires, 4 inch lift, roof rack with 4 lights across, and everything that just kills your mileage !
79 MPH, 2225 RPMs 21.1 MPG :D:thumbsup:
Just think if I folded in my mirrors and drove 55 :D:D:D:D:D:rofl:

2008 stock Liberty, 25K miles, 17-19 mpg short commute/suburban driving, 20-22 on the highway, and in the mountains. I am a careful driver, no lead foot. I originally was going to buy a Patriot but the Liberty is much more strongly built which I need for those weekend trips to the backcountry. Last but not least, Liberty interior appealed much better to my wife.

From what I've read. it looks like 2012 may be the last year for the Liberty (as well as Patriot and Compass). Sounds like Fiat plans to introduce a line of small, under-powered Euro-type SUVs in their place and leave the Grand Cherokee as the only full-sized Jeep SUV in the lineup. Unlikely they'll invest much in the KK before killing it, so you'd better get one while they're still available. Odd thing, here in Phoenix the Jeep dealers don't seem to be getting many deliveries of new Libertys, and in odd colors at that. Lousy selection of new KKs available here.

If you have the Selec-trac transfer case, it won't hurt a thing to use 4wd high on a hard paved road because it is a full-time system with a differential in the t-case. If you have Command-trac, you can damage driveline components by using 4wd on hard surfaces because there's no differential between the front and rear axles, causing them to "bind" whenever they can't slip the tires enough to relieve the stress.
Just my .02 on the CRD; I wish they were still available in the Liberty. A diesel is the perfect powerplant for a truck or SUV in my opinion.
My 2010 Liberty is not getting very good mileage; only about 18 mpg, but it sure is a nice vehicle and built so much sturdier than the competition (Escape, CRV, etc.).

Welcome to the forum. To find out your MPGs fill your tank all the way up and then reset your Tripometer on the dashboard by clicking the knob until you find the miles you have driven then pressing it again and holding it down. It should change to zero. Now with the tripometer at 0 and the gas tank full drive until your next fill up, when you get to the station, make note of how many miles you have driven on the tripometer and make note of how many gallons the pump says you put in. Now take the miles driven and divide them by the gallons put in the tank. Thats your MPGs

I have an app on my Droid that keeps track of my gas mileage and how much a spend per month and miles driven.
so I can check over a period of time my average mileage..so far this year the worse I have seen was 18.5 and the best I have seen was 26-27(banking slow driving and no ac on and a 50MPH wind on my ***) but my varage has been 22.3Mpg

^^ The moment you call your Jeep a Car, it starts having mechanical issues. They don't like being called cars

We drove from Northern Cincinnati area to North Carolina to near the South Carolina state line.. 385 miles which was 22.5 mpg. So the second fill up from North Carolina to Savanna Georgia. We did about an hour worth of stop-go traffic in Charleston SC to visit a lighthouse YouTube - South Carolina 2010 018.MOV
we did 405 miles with a little over 1/8 tank (2.5 gal) still to spare! 23.3MPG I was impressed since the traffic we hit but on the highway we did rather well.

I had been driving around a hemi until this past august. Then I got my '10 Liberty and going from lots of power to maybe half of that, means I have to compensate with a heavy foot. Consequently, Im getting around 11 mpg.
