KK Max tire size

OK so my stock goodyears are going to need to be replaced soon. Looking at doing it before winter. I have been saving up for a JBA 2.5 lift and then life happens and unexpected expenses came up and drained some of the fundage. Looking at running BFG All-terrains. What is the max tire size I could fit on a KK stock without rubbing. Going on 20K miles of mostly highway and some offroading on logging roads and trails. The only other option would be the 3.5 rock krawler front fork lift. All opinions are welcome.

First Post welcome to the forum.

265/75? I would have to say that's a typo. 265/75 is almost a 33" Tire. For a 31" you need at least 2" of lift. for 33" your going to need 4"+, pound the pinch welds and probably do some fender trimming.

And you have no rubbing whatsoever at full lock driving forwards or backwards? No rubbing at full lock go over bumps? If so you the first i have ever heard of pulling off that size without a lift

No one is attacking :) were all just wondering how it could be possible with no lift. Is it possible you bought the KK used and the first owner lifted it? The only reason we ask is because we know of several KKs with 33" tires and it simply wasnt possible to have no rubbing without a lift and trimming. If you take pictures of your suspension and tires this should clear things up.:p

So I hope this clears up any questions or confusion
I bought my KK in March and it had these tires (265/65 R17) on it, no lift kit as of yet and I really don't have any issues with clearance.
It is tight, but no rubbing, no mods that i can see anywhere

Ahhhhhh that's why, there 265/65 which is a 30.6" tire. While that is a big tire for a non lifted KK it is plausible. You had said you had 265/75 which is a 32.6" Tire. The 32.6 would NOT fit on a stock suspension. Thanks for the photos, it definitely cleared things up :)

Liberty kk new wheels and tires help

Looking to get a set of Rockstar or KD rims on my 2008 liberty 4x4. 17" or 18". It is all stock as of now with 16" rims and I am trying to avoid the expense of getting a lift. I'm also looking to get on/off road tires (thick threads) to put on the rims. Any idea what size tire I could get away with on 17" or 18" rims without a lift? I don't mind sanding down my wheelwell if it comes to that just trying to avoid the lift. Much appreciated for all advice

It's going to be hard to find an aggressive tire(like you want) with 17s or 18s that will fit the KK. Stick to 16" rims. More sizes available, generally the tires are a little cheaper, and 16s are better for wheeling. You get more sidewall which will be better for airing down. I see you're in Westhampton, so I'm assuming you go on the beach.

Like I said, it's going to be hard to find aggressive tires in the size you'll need. Stock your stuck with tires around 245/70-16, or others with a similar height(about 29-29.5" tall). If you must get 17s or 18s, then stick to a 29-29.5" tall tire. Any larger and you'll need a lift or have some rubbing to deal with.

Did a little looking at the specs on Rockstars and the smallest size is 17x8, you might have some rubbing with stock sized tires because of the width. I'm not too sure there... either way, depending on the width of the tires, the 8" rim might be too wide.

I'm getting ready replace my stock 225/75-16 Wrangler's with 25,000 miles on them as well. The tires I'm going with are the Firestone Destination LE2's. The optional tire size on my door sticker is 235/70/16. I'm thinking of going with 245/70/16 but wonder how they will affect my gas mileage. The Rev's per mile are less than the stock tires and are only .2" taller with the 245's. The wider tread width should increase roll resistance that would balance out the gain for less rpm's so I'm thinking the mileage should stay about the same? Here are the specs of each tire, am I correct in thinking that the mileage should stay about the same between the 225's and the 245's? I'm leaning towards the 245's.

225/75-16 29.3" Diameter/8.8" thread width/711 Revolutions Per Mile/tire weight 31 lbs.

235/70-16 29" Diameter/9.5" thread width/719 Revolutions Per Mile/tire weight 31 lbs.

245/70-16 29.5" Diameter/9.8" thread width/705 Revolutions Per Mile/32 lbs.

I have 245-70-16 Cooper Discoverer HTP and my mileage stayed the same at 17 city. I did have a slight bit of rub at full lock.

My cragar on the other hand decreased my mpgs by .5
Was that rub before or after the 8" wide rims?

Garnet, you're pretty much buying a tire that's the same height as stock. Unless you go with a really aggressive tread you shouldn't see much of a hit in mileage.

Backspacing/offset has a lot to do with rubbing too. You picked the right numbers though lol

Garnet, I agree with Tom, I'd go ATs over the LEs. I just looked the LEs up and they look like the stock street tires. I personally like the look of offroad tires with the squared edges, etc. And ATs still have a highway design, just slightly more aggressive. When I think tires that will kill mileage, I think mud tires, and really aggressive all terrains like the duratracs.

Personally I wouldn't waste my time installing the daystar
If you have bought it, return it and there is the price of your rear springs, you have to buy longer rear shocks with the Daystar so no extra money there. Then buy front springs next week ( 170 bucks) following week the front shocks and you're about there

I have 235/75/17 with no rub and still plenty of room. I use to have 275/45/20 and they too didn't rub. You can probably ad a bit of beef to 255/70/16

I just got some 265/65/18 from my buddy's truck and going to do some fitment test this up coming week. Will post on results

If your profile is correct no way any of those sizes would fit on your KK being lowered without rubbing or severe rubbing.

235/75R17's are pretty much a 31" tire,275/45R20's are a 30" tire,and 265/65R18's are a 32" tire.

Sorry but 2 of those have no chance clearing anything on a lowered KK with the 275/45R20's would but still rub major crazy.

Its no longer lowered. The 235/75/17 fit fine with stock suspension. I just dipped them and are going on tomorrow. Will take pictures to show fitment.

As for the 265/65/18s I'm taking a shot in the dark. I have the wheels and tires both got for free from people replacing old set so it doesn't hurt to test em out.
