BIG BEAR TRIP SEPT 11TH and 12TH.

The trails range from stock 2wd can make it to ouch.

Camp sites are sold out but if you still want to go there are plenty of hotels/motels.

We are staying at Pine Knot campground.
Big Bear Campgrounds and Picnic Areas
We are all sharing spaces too.
The spaces are 40 feet long and up to 8 people per site, $5 per extra vehicle after the first one but only two vehicles allowed per spot but there is parking on the street outside the camp site.
877-444-6777 or you can do it online at Federal recreation, camping and tour reservation information - Recreation.gov

Make a reservation. Grandpappy is wanting to share a space with somebody but he is sleeping in his station wagon (ZJ)
Everybody is splitting the cost of the sites to save bux.

Friday Dinner: Fend for yourself since everyone will be showing up at different times.

I'm still waiting to find out who's going up with me. One of the guys who I normally Jeep with owns Zumwalt's bicycles and has a bike show coming up. He's not sure he can get away two weekends in September. If he goes he may bring his RV. If not, I'll tent it myself. I go up to Monache Meadows by myself all the time so Big Bear is no big deal.

BTW, I'm ok with running anything. I ran John Bull last time I was up and remember thinking it was no big deal. We had an open TJ on 31's with us and he made it with lots of throttle :2thumbsup:

I'm still waiting to hear from my brother and our friend before getting a campsite. Otherwise, I may want to join one of the camps if you'll take me.

So, what have I missed the last few days? Do we have a group circle reservered or a bunch of spots near each other?

I can share a tent spot if they are large enough. The last few trips I just tossed the air mattress in the back of the Tahoe and did not even use the tent.

We don't have a group circle but we already have spots 36, 37, and 38. If we fill 39, 40 and 41 we will have the whole south east corner of the campsite backing up to the forest. The spots are going for 54 bucks for the weekend but I recommend sharing a spot since they are I believe 40 x 40 and you can have up to 8 people per spot.

Folks need to chime in on the breakfast and pot luck food.

I will know today what we will bring for pot luck.

Everybody just bring your own drinks tho'.

Generally we do breakfast burritos for saturday morning. If we want that we just need a head count along with eggs and the rest. For the last trip we had way too much of everything.

For dinner I read above that someone was bringing a pile of bbq so I guess we just need sides for that. I can bring my giant pot and boil a buch of corn.

OK. 39 booked
Sweet I would have cancelled without having the blender on the trail.

So does anyone want to volunteer some boneless chicken breast or hot dogs to add to saturday nights dinner? We also need another side or two.

Here is the list again incase nobody is looking at post #1

Sunday morning we usually just do breakfast cereal in styrofoam bowls and plastic spoons with a bottle of Sunny Delight OJ. Gourmet.
Depending on what time we get up there Friday we could go for pizza if there is a good one nearby.
Say, 7:30? Or we could have some delivered to the campground.
Just not Papa Jon's cardboard cow flop. Nor Domino's.

If all goes as planned we should be there by 6pm.

I just don't want to be grossed out.

But why do you keep inviting me over to watch Brokeback Mountain before we share that spot in Big Bear?

#129 ·
WOW! From the sounds of that, it seems like you may want to bring some KY as well.

#134 ·
I took off Friday, so I'll be heading up that afternoon/evening. Maybe I'll tag along with you Rick.

As for food stuff, what all is still needed?

#135 ·
That's fine. I will be leaving early afternoon.
Check the first post for food stuff.

Are you bringing your wife and daughter this trip? And how come your brother hasn't chimed in?
