Cylinder Head leak

First post to jeepforum so hello everyone!

My wife and I just bought our second Jeep. Got a KK Liberty with 28k on it. We took it to our trusted mechanic and he found a cylinder head leak. Not too bad, more of a seepage.

Reason I'm posting is that it concerns me that a 28k Jeep has a seepage or leak already! Makes me wonder if I should just return it.

Any thoughts?

its pretty unusual for the powertech v6 to have the leak, but with 28k on it it is still under warranty, see what the dealer has to say

The dealer is definitely going to fix it. We have an appointment for tomorrow. I just know these leaks can be a pain to nail down and get completely fixed. Just worried about a car that has so little miles having a leak already. Maybe a sign of things to come?

This is the first Ive heard of a 3.7 with a gasket leaking. Most will tell you theirs has been rock solid.

I'm not sure what they use for sealant when installing the Head Gasket but maybe its just some of the original Sealant. If this is the case, it would probably be rubbery and not wet and dripping

The oil filter is at the bottom of the engine, i dont know how the leak from that could make its way up to the top of the engine

lol agreed with ELt, its in the front bottom, this is first time im hearing that oil traveled up..

My oil traveled up the first time I changed the oil on my 08 KK.

After the filter burned my hand and I accidentally threw the filter up in shock! Speaking of which...that filter has to be loosened from one side and pulled out the other due to the Aframe. Glad to see Jeep put that little guttering under there to drain it into the oilpan, though!
