Introducing MONSTALINER™ UV Permanent DIY Roll On Bed Liner

Hi All,

We are a new advertiser on jeepforum.com and I just want to introduce myself, our company and a very interesting new product.

My name is Eric and I have 25+ years experience in coatings manufacturing.
Our company Magnet Paints, is focused on industrial maintenance and commercial fleet refinish coatings,
epoxy and urethane concrete floor coatings and automotive restoration paints.

We are also the manufacturers of Chassis Saver™ Rust Preventive Truck & Auto Underbody Coating.
Chassis Saver is a high performance alternate to POR-15 at 45% lower cost.

For the past 5 years, our lab has been developing and fine tuning a roll on bed liner product.
The product has evolved through 3 generations of testing, development and field trials and has just been
commercialized and is available for sale.

I have personally been involved with installations on more than 20 vehicles in the last 4 years in which
my feedback and experience alone was the determining factor that the product was complete and ready for release.

Monstaliner started as a pet project. One of our employees had used a widely popular DIY bed liner on his
personal truck and was not so pleased with the outcome. He came into work one day with a mission and
for almost a year, he kept badgering the chemists in our lab to develop a better product.

One day after getting tired of listening to this guy rant, we sat down and mapped out what a
new generation do-it-yourself bed liner would have to offer to be successful. A first, we just toyed with the
project but we knew that a much better product was possible compared to those already on the market.

So here we are, very proud to present:

MONSTALINER™ High Performance DIY Roll On Bed Liner

I don't want to write a book here so I will post the web site link for all who are curious to check this out on their own time.

As an introduction special and for the rest of this month at least,
we are offering free shipping on anything sold on the web site.

Just use Promo Code "FSBL-1" when ordering either online or by phone.

Everyone, anyone... please feel free to ask any questions. I am always available to help.

Best Regards
magnetman

work with you to make something happen.

Yeah... I got better at recon a little while after I posted that.

I have trouble searching through specific sections of a thread like that because even though you can search the thread, there are no real terms that would yield sufficient results. The easiest thing to do is to just skim page by page. I know the discussion made its way onto a few pages in a row.

#1,717 ·
The search filters out words as short as MEK. Try searching M.E.K. which has been used some. The best results will come from MEK**** because the stars are just space holders. They are the official way around the short term search problems.

#1,718 ·
i will make a scan of the msds for MEK when i can. for anyone un-familiar with msds, they provide a lot of info on a substance. flammability, reactivity, potential health hazards, proper handling, and many more! (i had to lol). maybe i should make a thread just for mek.

#1,719 ·
Save yourself the trouble. I'll post it up here tonight and I'll discuss a little of how to interpret the contents.

By the way, there is no clinical evidence that MEK causes cancer. You'll note that on the MSDS which by law, must state if any ingredients are known to cause cancer that it must be included. There is no information regarding that on the MEK MSDS from EXXONMOBIL or SHELL Chemical, two of the largest producers of this solvent.

#1,720 ·
MagnetMan, would you mind posting that info in a new thread or editing your first post to link to the information so that it is easily accessible?

#1,721 ·
See below for my original post regarding MEK from 4-08-2010

Here is a link to the MSDS with yellow highlighted areas to pay attention to:
MEK_Material_Safety_Data_Sheet

Please don't post information that is incomplete.
The paragraph below comes from this link: OSH Answers: 2-Health Effects of Methyl Ethyl Ketone

Q: Is there potential for methyl ethyl ketone to build-up or accumulate in my body?

MEK does not accumulate in the body. It is rapidly absorbed by inhalation, skin contact and ingestion and transferred into the blood and other tissues.
MEK is metabolized in the liver, mainly to 3-hydroxy-2-butanone and 2,3-butanediol which are eliminated in urine. Most MEK probably enters the
general metabolism in the body and is converted to acetate which is eventually broken down to carbon dioxide and water which are then
eliminated in exhaled air and urine. Small amounts of MEK itself are also eliminated in exhaled air and urine. MEK and its metabolites are mostly
cleared from the body within 24 hours.

I went to the dollar store and bought to "painters sheets" that were 9'x12'. I folded them in half and draped them over the top to keep the tub out of the light. It worked very well. My pot life and dry time was shorter than when I did my first Jeep in November, but it came out great still.

I just wanted to get it out of the heat. I think the sunlight is fine, but I believe it won't cure properly if it is too hot (an NY sun bakes stuff).

#1,729 ·
Please stay out of the sun if at all possible.
2 things will cause the coating to dry too fast and make rolling difficult.
Excessive heat and air movement which forces the solvent to evaporate and will make it tack up too quickly.

Do your surface prep the day or evening before you plan to roll.
Try to get up at sunrise and roll before it gets too hot outside.

You guys really get Humidity? I remember my Uncle was complaining about the humidity here the last time he visited (a few years ago). I don't know if he was in SA, Houston, or El Paso at the time though.

#1,742 ·
Good to have you back Luckrider. I lived in Oklahoma for 2 and a half years and they definitely have humidity! And tons of heat. I remember in the dead of summer and a breeze blows by and it's just more HOT air!

#1,730 ·
Force Drying

Another point of info on heat.

It is not necessary to try and force dry by putting vehicle back in sun after rolling.

The heat can also cause solvent to get trapped in the coating which will cause delayed through dry and also can cause solvent odors to linger in a closed up vehicle longer than necessary

Sounds like the skin over effect that you get in the can.

Also MagnetMan, I am going to help you out with that profile a little.

Transmission: Auto is the 42RLE 4-Speed Manual is the NSG370 6-Speed
Rear Axle: Next Generation Dana 44 (with electric locker if it is a Rubicon).
Front Axle: 2wd: N/A (shame on you ) 4wd Non-Rubi: Next Gen Dana 30 Rubicon: Dana 44 with Electric Locker and sway bar disconnect.
Suspension: Stock
Transfer Case: NP231, Rubi: NV241
Tires and wheel you would have to take a look for.
Future Mods: Monstaliner

#1,732 ·
You don't need to put stuff like "Next generation" or whatever. If it's a JK it's a JK30 and JK44. We already know that. Just put "Dana 30" and "Dana 44". If you haven't touched the suspension, leave it blank. "Stock" isn't a valid value.

PS It'd be an NV231, actually, though NP231 would be close enough that most wouldn't know the difference.

#1,733 ·
They stopped using New Process? JK tech doesn't have a stock spec thread like TJ tech so I was kind of going with the flow there.

#1,735 ·
Starting our tub lining today. Got everything out and vacuumed.
Starting on the scrubbing and scuffing next.
I really didn't think it would be that DIRTY. especially around the cup holder area.
I think the PO was a soda drinker cause boy is it sticky!

#1,736 ·
I know what you are saying. Mine looked like someone spilled soda, tar, and coffee in my Jeep (by tar I mean cigarette tar). I had to pressure wash the Jeep and hand wash it before I could even start sanding.

#1,738 ·
I pulled the things that hold them to the floor and just hung them over the steering wheel.

#1,739 ·
Thanks for the Fast Shipping!!

Quick question. In the PDF directions it says if Chasis saver is used to wait 24 hours until applying Monstaliner. Will waiting until it's dry hurt adhesion?

I've done the sanding/rinsing now. Waiting for the tub to dry before I MEK and possible coat a few areas with the chassis saver. Man are my fingertips RAW :)

#1,751 ·
Listen to ericpl, he has it right
You can coat over CS in as little as 3 hours as long as it is not still sticky.

You don't want to wait more than 24 hours or you need to scuff sand it lightly.

If you are only doing spots it may be no issue to scuff the spots vs doing the whole tub and scuffing everywhere.
