WalMart has this new Goodyear tire. It's the most aggressive looking A/T tire I've ever seen. Don't know all the particulars yet as all the signage and prices weren't yet displayed on the racks. Only one 15" size, 31x10.5x15. Lots of 16"and 17" sizes in "C" and "E" load ratings. The tire has good spacing between the lugs, almost on par w/ an MT. Big side lugs as well. Don't know anything about mileage expectancy. Pretty sure it's a WMart only tire. Go check it out. Sorry no pics

I was going to go with them until I saw the Duratracs , bought one of the Authoritys from Walmart in a 265-75-16 and then also a 265-75-16 Duratrac took them both home and looked both over good.

Returned the Authority and bought a set of Duratracs for the same money, something about the Authoritys just felt cheaper to me. And thats from someone who spent about 12 years of my life in the tire business.

They look to be an OK tire and to those that bought them I am sure they will do a good job for you. But they were not for me

Thats actually a pretty good idea, glad you thought of it.

The fact that you have experience in the industry helps even more.

Also, my buisness manager ended up getting a set of 5 for the chevy colorado, so we're going to see how they work. So far, shes put about 500 miles on them, and her only two comments are, they're louder then the previous tires (a set of HT's) and she hasnt gotten stuck in her driveway yet... which was a weekly occurance with the previous tires.

I just bought my Rubi a set of 265/75x16 Authoritys. Since the communist state of Vermont does not have a Super Walmarts around. I picked them up when I went over to Rochester NH (visiting releatives). I had been waiting for over an hour to get them put on when these ***-Clowns said they couldn't install them because it wasn't a stock size.

The ditz behind the counter poured over a manual (she didn't know a Liberty from a Rubicon  ) had to call a "manager" who said he couldn't because of "liability". I told him it would have been nice to know a fricken hour ago instead making me wait.

I went with the "C" load rating, which I hope I don't regret. I was just so tired of the MTR rock hard side wall and ride. The do ride MUCH better than the E rated MTR's. (I run alot of dirt roads with the accompaning potholes.) Now to test them in the MUD & SNOW

After doing a little research a few people have said their Authorities begin to hum around 65mph. Anyone here experience that?

There is some tire noise at 65+ mph. Not bad, and hardly noticable in a Jeep. In a new (quiet) SUV, pickup it might be bothersome, but you're not going to get "quiet" with aggressive tread. The Authority is what I would call borderline aggressive (not a swamper, but definately TREADED )

31-10.50's for $130? Cheapest I found for the Duratracs is $139.99 plus tax, and 60 bucks to mount and balance. Or get the Authorities for $130 installed at Walmart.

So I just got my new tires on..Goodyear wrangler authority..took em out yesterday for a test run. They did great! I ran them in DEEP mud, water crossings(up past doors), loose gravel, sand, and climbed some really good hills! What a great day! so here is my review..mud-they did awesome, could clean a little better....water-what water?...gravel-lots of traction(i dont drive slow, 25-35 on dirt road)...sand-i think they did the worst in the sand-they really bite into the sand...hills-I was most impressed in this category, they bit hard, I had no problems even where I thought for sure it would get loose! At the end of the day, I did a check on the tires..same air pressure, I could not find ONE nick or chunk(very suprised at that-im a lead foot on hills).

Overall-I would recommend these tires to anyone with a DD on a budget. Great tires for the money. I feel like i wasted $900 on my old BFG A/T's. Those tires have nothing on theseIMO.Im gonna trade them to somebody who needs slicks...lol

i have had these tires on my xj with a 3" lift and love them so far they have got me through 15" of wet heavy snow...and mud that was around 12-16 inches deep ....did good in wet sand too....for the price i dont think you can beat them ...cheapest i could find duratracs for is 185 a tire and i paid 135 for these in a 31x10.50x15 size

Has anyone ran these in stock size on a WJ Grand Cherokee? I was looking at them last night, and I'm thinking I would like to pull the trigger on these this fall when my Goodyear SR-As finally crap out. I run my WJ stock, although I'm going with a 2" BB at the same time I do the tires.

well personally i think the MTR is a better tire..it probably will last a little longer too..however the price difference may be an issue...but what i am doing is getting retreads from this place called treadwright.com they are based off of the MTR pattern and they are about $90 a tire for their special kedge grip...i have heard many good things about the treadwear and life of this tire

So, how about some more feedback.
Geez, five pages of feedback isn't enough?

I still got mine. They've been doing DD duty and a little playing when I have time. I'm still happpy with my purchase. Money was tight at the time of purchase and winter (and State Inspection) was around the corner. Even today, with a little more coin in my pocket, I would still purchase them.

Although they trails I wheel aren't extremely rocky (or at least not loose rock), I still haven't gouged one. They're wearing good, and should last me until I'm ready for a serious upgrade.

Tires are a compromise, period. Ask yourself honesty where you are willing to compromise.

I was looking at these Authorities in WalMart the other day in a 265/75/16. I never realized before that they had the mountain snowflake symbol on them. Have they always had that or is it new? Seeing that really moved them higher up on the list for me. So did the fact that the one I looked at said Made in USA on it.

I looked at both the C load range and the E load range, there is quite a bit of difference between the two. The C is much squishyer with softer sidewalls. The E is also a 3 ply sidewall versus a 2 ply sidewall for the C. So I don't know which route I would go if I got the Authorities. But I'm in no rush and I'm still looking at Duratracs and Destination MTs and even Hankook Mts. Plus others. But I'm keeping these on the list for now.

Today I went to Wal-Mart and purchased 4 Wrangler Authorities LT245/75R16 load range E. The counter guy said they might not be able to mount them for me but a tech came out and told him it was no problem, afterall, 255/70R18's are stock on the Sahara, and according to his book, the TJ Rubicon comes with 245/75R16 so that was enough justification for putting them on my stock RHD wrangler x mail truck. I hope they wear well. The installation and Life-time balancing were FREE through September. Man did those stock wrangler ST's suck!!! They have about 25,000 miles or less on them (2 out of 3 winters I ran snow tires) and are all they way down to the wear bars and then some. My 05 RHD TJ came with Wrangler GS-A's I think, and they were fine at 25,000 miles, not great tires but at least they had some decent treadlife.

Well i just picked up 4 of the 31x10.5x15's and mounted them on my XJ. Didnt get hassled or questioned about my factory tire size or nothing. Look great, low noise, and seem to not be wearing down at all. All good news i guess. I took them on some rocky mountain roads over the weekend and so far they still look sharp.

hey Charger - those look great on your XJ. How much lift you got there? looks like RE 3.5" and are those grizzly wheels off a TJ?

I hope to be picking up a set for my WK. I think I am going to go with 245/75/17 to avoid having to install spacers, and since I dont go Jeeping alot, I don't think I need the wider 265 tire. So, what load range should I get for the 05 WK?

Hey Guys, Just thought that I would post up a quick review. I purchased a pair of these to replace my balding MTRs. I don't wheel like I used to, so a less aggressive/expensive tire this time around is fine with me. I only bought 2 tires for the rear. The front will be replaced next weekend. Why do it in two weekends? Because every Wal-Mart around Denver/Boulder Colorado refused to mount anything other than stock tire sizes. I even took a Manager out to the parking lot and said "Look, there are already 31x10.5s on my XJ. And I want to replace those with your 31x10.5. Clearly there will be no issues." Still no go. It's policy, and they won't break it. So I jacked up my front end, left it on a spare, and the jack, and drove my Girl's Jeep to Walmart to mount up my fresh shoes.

I haven't put many miles on them yet, but they are quieter than the MT-Rs, and from what I can tell, only having two new tires, I really like the ride.

One strange thing is the area around the bead. It seems like it does something that my other tires don't. Not like it's mis mounted, but maybe it's designed to protect your rims a bit. Not sure. I'll take a picture, maybe you guys have some thoughts.

You can kind of see it in this picture.
Not my picture but it shows if you look close at the rim/bead area.
