Introducing MONSTALINER™ UV Permanent DIY Roll On Bed Liner

Hi All,

We are a new advertiser on jeepforum.com and I just want to introduce myself, our company and a very interesting new product.

My name is Eric and I have 25+ years experience in coatings manufacturing.
Our company Magnet Paints, is focused on industrial maintenance and commercial fleet refinish coatings,
epoxy and urethane concrete floor coatings and automotive restoration paints.

We are also the manufacturers of Chassis Saver™ Rust Preventive Truck & Auto Underbody Coating.
Chassis Saver is a high performance alternate to POR-15 at 45% lower cost.

For the past 5 years, our lab has been developing and fine tuning a roll on bed liner product.
The product has evolved through 3 generations of testing, development and field trials and has just been
commercialized and is available for sale.

I have personally been involved with installations on more than 20 vehicles in the last 4 years in which
my feedback and experience alone was the determining factor that the product was complete and ready for release.

Monstaliner started as a pet project. One of our employees had used a widely popular DIY bed liner on his
personal truck and was not so pleased with the outcome. He came into work one day with a mission and
for almost a year, he kept badgering the chemists in our lab to develop a better product.

One day after getting tired of listening to this guy rant, we sat down and mapped out what a
new generation do-it-yourself bed liner would have to offer to be successful. A first, we just toyed with the
project but we knew that a much better product was possible compared to those already on the market.

So here we are, very proud to present:

MONSTALINER™ High Performance DIY Roll On Bed Liner

I don't want to write a book here so I will post the web site link for all who are curious to check this out on their own time.

As an introduction special and for the rest of this month at least,
we are offering free shipping on anything sold on the web site.

Just use Promo Code "FSBL-1" when ordering either online or by phone.

Everyone, anyone... please feel free to ask any questions. I am always available to help.

Best Regards
magnetman

I just ordered a gallon of Monstaliner for my M416 Trailer. Unfortunately I herculined the inside of the jeep last summer before I knew about this product.

The Inside of the bed is currently coated in rustoleum primer. What is the best way to prep the surface for the Monstaliner to ensure proper adhesion?

Here is a pic of said trailer

My Monstaliner project is complete. Unfortunately I don't have any pics yet as I still haven't put it all back together. Working on some other things.

The worst part was the sanding. A few times I asked myself why I was doing this. When I put the first coat on I used the brush to work it into the nooks and crannys as well as along the tape line. The product rolled on easily and it covered well. Rolled both coats in one day.

My biggest complaint is that the roller started falling apart about 3/4 through the first coat. I didn't really want to use the second roller so soon but I had to. I would recommend getting at least one extra roller if not two. Of course, you mileage may vary with them. I have some bits of the roller foam in the product which makes for some sharp bumps that I will have to deal with.

I had about a quart left over more or less. I capped the can good and then today I decided I was going to do the grill and front vertical surfaces of the fenders. I *did not* coat the tailgate. Sanded and prepped the grill and rolled on one really thick coat. I am glad that I did this and it looks great. It will definitely protect against stone chips.

I see that a single quart quantity will be available and if so I will get it and coat the tailgate to complete the look.

While I can't comment on it's durability the project is doable by anyone. A lot of elbow grease and a little patience is all that's needed. I was more nervous about sanding down the perfectly good paint on the grill only to cover it up.

Thanks to the JF members who answered questions and posted writeups and a huge thank you to Magnetman for all his answers to our repetitive questions and for an awesome product.

Not a problem with the questions. It's been great to help everyone and the questions have helped me focus on what issues people have most to deal with when I revise our installation instructions and literature. Getting new business has also been a plus so thanks again to everyone here. I just noticed recently that this thread is the #1 vendor thread for posts and views!

Regarding you foam pieces issue: Before coating cures too hard, get a razor blade or sharp Xacto knife and carefully trim off the worst nubs. Don't pull them out of the coating.

I'm going to just try redoing the back hatch area of my Grand cherokee. I'm going to just roll it on.

What I need to buy is

1 quart of black with the catlast.
2 blue rollers. They fit sdandard small Rollers right?
1 drill bit mixing paddle

I will get some good pics of the rust spots in the raptor for you.

I know alot of people on here have used it. But how many have had water sitting in it for a couple of days?

I wend to the beach, had ice and ice chests in the back and look what the raptor did.

I don't know if the salt made the pin holes show up faster or what.

I can pay with a credit card or paypal.

Thanks,
Brandon

OOOOOO.... Sounds like something special is about to happen.

I am  That is what is cool about laptops, I know you have heard of them :rtft:

JK, Sounds like another project is in the works though.

#1,413 ·
I heard. Most laptops are more likely to have hard drive failure, but mine locks it up to prevent that. I just don't care for sitting in the same position to work on a computer.

Anyway, do you have any suggestions for coating chrome? I have a sway bar cover that is chrome and I hate it. That is the last piece of chrome on the Jeep now, and I might just coat that with liner if I don't have to sand blast.

#1,414 ·
HD failures in laptops happen for many reasons, dropping them, coffee or tea spilled in them, overheating/poor ventillation, sitting on them, dog lifting leg on them, backing car out of driveway over them, etc. I have 3 of those experiences.

Check data sheet on Bulldog adhesion promoter. I think that works on chrome.
It's also easy enough to coarse sand (60 grit) the chrome to get some adhesion. Let's do a test spot first.

Jeep exterior with Monstaliner

Someone just messaged me from ebay asking:

How many gallons would be required to cover the exterior of a Jeep YJ (Wrangler)?

Anyone have a guesstimate of the footage outside on a YJ. I'm assuming roof is not involved here but I asked for a confirmation.

If you want, I could measure my TJ tomorrow (rough estimates of course). I would image 2 gallons should be enough. Spraying would probably be the best way to do it though.

Shoot him this thread, he might learn something:teehee:

I have dropped these IBM laptops from 10'-12' without any hard drive failure while playing a move from the HD. There is a sensor that detects it and locks the drive.

Test spot? Why would I do that, if I screw up the cover, it is going in the garbage where it belongs. I guess this is my chance to do a little guinea pig testing. If I have a problem with adhesion, that is what I will do. I will see if I can still find the can of adhesion promoter that we had. I don't know what happened to it though. If I can't find it, I will just try a coarse sand on it.

Sweet... I have a little bot of surface rust growing that I was hoping to take care of this summer. Since my last final is Monday, I officially end that day, and I could get started stripping things down.

Setting the alarm now. If I don't do that, I won't get up until about noon or later

#1,424 ·
They are probably pretty close to you since you are in LI. They are in Ametyville.

I have those numbers. Looks like it is going to be just under 60 Square Feet for the outside of a TJ/YJ/CJ. Here is the math (all done in inches, then divided by 144 to convert to feet).

Luckrider said:
Grill :756"
Tail :1440"
Fender:252" x 2 =504"
Door :864" + 98" x2 = 962" =1924"
Hood :3286" - 371" =2915"
Rear :288" + 128" x2 = 416" =832"

Total :8371" = 58.13194444444 Square Feet

So we all know what the interior of a Jeep looks like with Monstaliner. But what about the front grill? Well...here ya go.

I used a different (but similar) roller on the front and you can see that the texture is a lot more aggressive than what it would normally be. It's just one coat and the liner was pretty thick when I put it on. I suppose I could have thinned it down a little more with MEK. I did the interior on Sunday and the grill on Monday. I'm happy with the way it turned out and I like the protection it will give me from stone chips on the road and branches sticking out on the trail.

Magnetman...I'll get you some better pictures over the weekend in case you want to post them on your site.

#1,428 ·
That looks great. I think the texture is really nice. It looks tighter, but also a bit sharper. I love how clean the tape lines came out.

So... what is the thing on the bumper that says up?

#1,433 ·
No problem. I even drew a tiny little diagram of each section that was measured.

#1,434 ·
Hahaha I'm going to get flamed yet again haha but uhm that mek stuff you have will it take off an undercoating....I finally got my tub off today to start working on the frame and the parts under the tub that arn't rusted have like a linex or something on them and its failing and I need to get it all off most of it is scraping pretty easy but down in the cracks and stuff its a little hard and some of the big open spaces its like cured real hard.... So yea what would you recommend for removal of this undercoating crap....

#1,435 ·
Sounds like it is just undercoating like you said. MEK seemed to tear into that stuff. It is worth a shot. I don't know if you really want to play with a propane torch, even with the body off (yep, I saw that pic... Nice man :highfive:).

#1,437 ·
A quart should be enough, but if you are going to line your tub too, I would get the gallon. I know they sell the quart at Home depot here for $12 and the gallon at Lowes (right across the street, and both only carry those sizes) for $24. 4 times the amount for 2 times the cost seems worth it to me.

#1,438 · (Edited)
Alight, I may be ordering some of the rust preventive you guys offer too. I need to do the frame and the bottom of the tub. I don't have enough Por-15...Is the stuff really as good as Por? I know its way cheaper which is sweet, but does it cure the same way and will it do the same job....Rust preventives are kind of like bedliners a lot of companys have them but only some are good...So I would like some confirmation that its a solid product because I know for a fact Por-15 is and I don't want to take the cheaper route here and regret it.

#1,443 ·
Have some confidence in me after we have demonstrated what our bedliner can do.
Chassis Saver is the smart mans alternative to POR-15. It's the same chemical composition at 35% lower cost.
Been on the market for 20+ years and we sell against POR every day. Check the Magnet Paints web site.
We have 1500 auto paint stores selling it who carry PPG, Dupont, etc auto paints.

Here's an independent tester/fan of Chassis Saver. I have no idea who he is but I like him!
