OK, I stole the idea from the YJ forum but it's a great idea so let this thread be an inspiration for all of us doing mods, maintenance, or repairs to our TJ's! :D

Personally, I installed my trusty Uniden CB into my new Rubicon.

I picked up a rack off CL for cheap $$$ and installed it. getting into kayak fishing and will be able to take my boat to places most people can't get to. I know it's not pretty but it is a quick on and off.
Who cares what it looks like, as long as it works. Looks ok to me except that you might need some support above the windshield hinges.

First, we redid the spark plugs (they were ok but the gaps sucked - since we had new ones we'd already gapped we just replaced them. Wow that rail is a royal PITA. But it doesn't idle rough anymore :) yay.)

Then we redrilled the trackbar to put the wheels back under the jeep (which pushed the steering wheel almost 90 degrees out. Doh!)

Finally, we did this:

(The girl on the passenger side is wearing steampunk welding goggles. They prolly helped a lot, actually - I hit 55 and was having real trouble seeing the road :) Meanwhile she is laughing and roller-coastering between the oh-**** bar and putting her hands up in the air..)

Then on the way to the crab shack this happened :( Stupid warrior piece of ...grrrrr. Going around a turn (fairly gently) and PING! ting ting ting.. as the bolt sheared and the washer went bouncing down the highway.

i washed it and found a dent in the hood that wasnt there two days ago.

steve
Me too! Looks like a rock dented the 3" tall area between the top of my windshield and the hard top. Just a touch lower and I'd be shopping for a new windshield so I should be happy........I guess. It's a pretty good dent down to bare metal, so I can't believe I didn't notice it when it happened.

Installed OME steering dampener, drove it 100 miles, got it stuck and unstuck (thanks Hi-Lift!), found a crack on my home made CB antenna mount, took picture:

Yesterday was fun. Today I'm busy getting bent over by our local service station for stuff I should have done over the weekend. $140 each for front/rear diff fluid, $125 front pinion seal (ok that I'd let them do), $225 tranny flush/clean (or $175 to swap the filter/fluid), toe-in alignment & steering wheel rotate..

Sigh. The bad news is, they're about the cheapest (and best) shop around. And I certainly learned a lesson about convenience vs getting dirty. I didn't expect to spend that much to save 3 hours of work and 2 hours of getting cleaned up..
