We are finally getting some snow to play around in here in central KY calling for 3-5 inchs. So its not much but its something. I will finally get to see how the cj handles it.:D

DON'T SAY THAT!

I still haven't found a hydraulic pump for my snow blade...

I think I accidentally shipped mine off to the junk yard this summer and I haven't found a replacment yet!

They are saying anywhere from 2 to 10" for us, but I've been here when we got 38" of snow on a 6" warning,
And I've been here when they said we were going to get 10" of snow and we got 6" of ICE instead!

The weather man is a fracking moron so it's a crap shoot every time he says something!

Yeah, we've been told 1-3" every day for the past few days. Not bad. I want a foot over a few hours like a couple years ago, the time when I had to leave for work with 11" overnight and I didn't even try my Accord (only vehicle I had at the time roadworthy). Shoveled the drive, watched plow truck go past 3 times a block down, but they never touched my street til 6pm. I was shoveling at 7am. Spent the morning digging and pushing my neighbors back into their driveways cause they thought they'd make it. I bought my CJ last spring hoping for that to happen again then (was early March when we got that 11" IIRC) but not even a dusting. Well, I wanna play in that now!!! BRING ON THE SNOW!!! I haven't liked snow for the past 5 years or so at least, but my CJ changed me on that... Those BFG A/T work great, and I wanna try to overcome them...

Rollbar, they're calling for 30% chance of snow down here this Fri or Sat :nono::nono: This 20 and 30's degree temps we are getting now are way out of place. Global Warming my ARSE

I drove through eastern Kentucky yesterday on the way back home and I can tell you the local folk must not be used to snow. Counted 10 vehicles in the ditch in about a 70 mile stretch. Mostly 2wd pickups, a few smaller cars. Several looked like the icy bridges caught them unawares. It was slick, but not terrible if you know how to drive. The scariest moment was when 2 petroleum tankers overtook us going at least 80mph. Idiots.

They are saying that the upper atmosphere Jet Stream hasn't looked like this since the winters of '77 & '78...

'77 we had 6" of ice, topped by about 24" of snow,
Everything stopped for about a month.
I lived on a farm, and livestock still has to be fed, watered, ect. through all that.

38" of snow here in '78 and actual temps of -20F. wind chills of -75F.!
Three of the local guys had pneumonia, so guess which dumb azz farm boy had to feed/water their livestock along with our own! :brickwall
We were out of school for about six weeks, and it took the national guard over two weeks to get back to us!

Being farmers, we already had our selves dug out,
And I spent more time on a snowmobile than I did on farm equipment, but when you are 16 you really don't care as long as it's not a bicycle!

And people wonder why I joined the Marines at 17 and one day old!
Marines was a cake walk compared to working on the farm!

You just made me laugh my butt off, because I know what you're talking about. If you're going to be a farmer in the mid-west ,you better be tough. Now my GF is giving me stink eye because I'm laughing like a fool during the sad part in a movie she is watching.

We now have around 35 inches of snow on the ground and the high on saturday is forecasted at -2 F. My driveway is over a 1/4 mile long and we have/ had a 7 foot deep drift across the driveway, other than that it drifts in at about 2 foot deep. I am about tired of moving snow. Oh and you have to dig out, even with 6" long arm on 35s I can't make it out through that mess.

Wow, sounds like some of you need to move up here in Wisconsin, land of the snow home to rust buckets. We have about a foot of snow here. It is nice as long as what your driving on hasn't turned to ice. I have an engine to swap out and I will be good to go. It's just so cold, below zero maybe up to the teens, it's hard getting anything done in the garage.

Columbus is supposed to get hit pretty big Thursday night and into Friday, hopefully that means no school for me! The CJ is so fun in the snow!! :2thumbsup:

Yeah, like a couple of people, I can't quite get into the spirit of how much fun this whole winter thing is. Too much Michigan. Like JeepHammer, I'm a farmboy, and unlike JeepHammer, I still am. Which means steers and pigs and fowl morning and evening, after work. And it's snowing. And we've had freezing rain. And it's only early January and I'm already sick of it. Talking about how much fun your CJ is in the snow is ok, if it doesn't have a major impact on your life. Me, I'm a LOT more excited about July, and vacation in the U.P. This whole winter thing can pi$$ off, 33's, lockers, V-8's, chains, or no...

I can't agree more, that's why I was glad to get out of Mi and Maryland/ DC area. Moved to Fl to be warm, but WTF it's 38* in my garage as I type and I'm in SW Fl, I can't even remember how the -degrees feel, but to be in Fl this is BS :brickwall

I've had enough snow already....12" to 18" in my area a week before Christmas and 3 days in my truck pushing it. I'd rather be playing in it with the Scrambler or ATVs.

John - send some down this way! We were getting freezing rain all day, still that way. It's amazing the difference in the weather in just 50 miles. Yeah, I don't know if I'd want to live in the snowbelt. I know I'm usually not wanting this weather, but the CJ has me playing more than I did in the F150 (My first 4wd).

Yeah, I definitely have respect for you farmers. I grew up in a "farm school" - probably half the students lived on farms. I've always been glad I didn't - I never liked the idea of early mornings to tend animals before school and then again after school..

I still like the idea of a plow for mine, I remember Dad's old '5 had one. Heck of a lot easier than the shovel for the driveways! Anyone have a '7 with a plow on it for sale at a good price?? I like my '5 the way it is to change anything on it now, so I'd probably go for a '7 and put one one it.

As for the 77-78 winter, I don't remember it very well, as I was only almost 2 years old.. I was born 4/76..

Mine's been better than I expected. I am impressed with it. I'm just nervous since the brakes are acting oddly, so I am giving myself plenty of time to stop, which is always the hhardest thing to do in the slick weather.

Well we got a break yesterday and it was only freezing rain but another 1 foot of snow expected tonight. :)

Got of love Ohio.

I remember the 77 blizzard. I was in a station wagon headed to Chicago from Cleveland loaded with $150K worth of salt that could not go lower than 50*F or they would all ruined.
It was the same year a 58 Pontiac hit my 63 CJ5 head on. The Pontiac got a dented bumper but the CJ lost everything up to it's firewall and the frame on the driver side was pushed back 8". The plow on the front ended up 30' behind the jeep. Sold it for $200.00 though.

I was enjoying the beginning of this storm until I got wrecked this morning on the freeway on the way into work.. Some ******nozzle passed me doing at least 75 tried cutting in front of of me and lost it. I almost saved it a few times but the tank slappers got the better of me and the ditch and center cable dividers got the best of my CJ..

But, I drove it away, only in a Jeep..

No so bad, RF fender is folded up into the wheel well, front bumper is junk and a fist size dent in the RR fender. Steering wheel is off about 60 degrees so I do have some suspension damage, hopefully just a toe link or something like that that I needed to upgrade anyway..

so now I can beat the crap out of it, it has it's first scratch. I don't think this one will buff out..
