Having moved to Chicagoland from Los Angles I found out my CJ dose not like the cold well any thing below 20 Degrees. So I put one of these on from NAPA

Store Locator | NAPA Online

5-10 minutes in the morning and its starts like it was a 70 degree day.

Yeah I've noticed this myself. My CJ5 really stumbles below about 20 degrees for about 5min after starting. It's funny to see the whole cab shaking...almost makes me feel like I have a bigger engine :rtft:

Actually the problem is if you have an aftermarket manifold or a non operational manifold heater the fuel will condense at the bottom of the manifold. So by heating the water up you heat the manifold up and the fuel stays in suspension which helps with starting.

The heater has a circulation pump in it so acts very fast and the whole block gets warm quickly.

You link did not work for a product anway.

When you change temp ranges like that... you will most likely need to reset your choke and high idle screw for your new location. You can search your carb instr or just do it. Verify your plate closes and you should have high/high idle at 1800 or so and after 45 sec to min tap gas and should drop to 1400 / 1500 or so. Leave it like this for a few minutes when you do leave. Knock off high idle after 5 min or so.

You battery also gets derated quite a bit in cold climates. I think I have a 875 CCA batter for my 258 and not issues starting even in the 0F or below starting last winter. The only problem for me, Weber After market carb & air filter.... does not have the warm air snorkle so My carb looks frozen after it start up on cold days. If you shut if off wet it can freeze the pivot points.

My 258 starts on the coldest of MN winters and does not shake the cab. But I do have it tricked out, large battery, good grounds, aux grounds, aux grounds to ignition, and carb and choke adj properly..... I have also notice if have choke for Winter for Summer conditions I back out/lower the high idle screw because it goes too high will hit 2100 summer... FYI.

The 258 is pretty good in winter... I used one for 8 yrs in Mtns of NY and never had issue.. Great Truck. The only weak link with 258 if the stock air cleaner not working well.... the carb is off on its own and get turn into a block of frozen carb in very cold temp... single digits and colder is where I saw this.

I would also verify the electric manifold heater is working.... after 2 min it will feel warm to touch with electric heat.. and rest of intake will feel cool to touch. Heater is just under the carb mt on bottom of intake. It shuts off when water temp reaches 160F.
