Ever find anything "unusual" while wheeling?

I was out in the woods in northern Cali the other day and came across a huge USAF radar facility. This is nowhere near any military bases.

----Update 6-10-06, found this info about it on the interweb: http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/systems/an-fps-118.htm /Update----

A friend of mine said he once found what he believes is an old missle silo inside a chain link and barbed wire fence out in the woods, also in northern Cali, but he couldn't remember how to get back to it to show it to me.

What strange things have you found?

one time riding my bike through the woods I saw a trail that was almost completely covered. i rode through it and end at a huge dead tree.in the tree was a this old tree house.I climbed the wooden planks that were the ladder to reveal a bunch of porn mags from the late 70-early 80

When I was up in Cheboygan, MI last summer, I went wheeling out in the woods to play paintball with some friends. We were walking around looking for the other guys when we came up on a old rusted out Scout buried up to the axles with the hood open and keys in the ignition. It kinda looked like a small junkyard lol, there were chairs and car parts, and old pontoon boat and just general junk, couldnt find anything interesting enough to grab...

I'm gonna say pretty unusual there 918. That young-un will likely never make it to full maturity.
I've spent quite a bit of time in the woods and have only seen one full albino and one piebald. And never that close or been able to get pictures either. Nice!

i found a abandoned zj on the road leading to a trail around a moutain. the houses in the area were ritzy but the zj was smashed to s*** missing a wheel and had 2 flats. the trail started about 1/2 mile from where the zj was and i found its missing wheel and tire about a mile down the trail floating on the edge of a huge mud pit.

Is the missile silo abandoned? Because if so I would so want to check that out!

I presume so but as I said he couldn't remember where he found it- he was a logger and came across it several years ago.

On a similar note, I came across what must have been a remote weather station (it looked like it had "alien" origins but it was also inside a chain link fence about 10' x 10)' out near Poison Lake in northern California (off Hwy 44 north of Westwood). It looked like it had only recently been installed but yet looked temporary as it was on tripods.

The only odd thing I've found out in the woods wasn't when we were wheeling. When I was about 10, my dad and I were heading out to a rock quarry to shoot, and as we were going down the road to the quarry, I looked out my side window. Down off the road about 20 yards, maybe a bit farther, was a group of seven or eight people in a circle, with one guy in the middle. They seemed normal, except for the fact they were dressed in like 1800's clothing. All the girls had corsets and those dresses that poof out a bunch right at the waste. The guys had leggins and old style shirts and stuff. The weirdest (as well as the most disturbing) thing, however, was the one guy in the middle of the group. He had on leggings like the other guys, but was shirtless. There was a big steel bar about shoulder blade level, behind him, with three large hooks that plainly went under his skin for a good four inches, before coming back out above his shoulder blades. The steel bar had a piece of rebar or something coming off of each end, making a triangle above the bar. There was a rope tied to this triangle. The rope went over a heavy madrone branch, and the other end was being held by the three other guys that were there. As we were passing (we were driving really slow due to the board being horrendously washboarded), they pulled on the rope, picked him up in the air with the hooks in his back, and he started swinging around. The guy was obviously alive, and he wasn't fighting at all. I assumed it was some sort of tweaked satanic worship or something along those lines. Whatever it was, it was seriously disturbing to my diminuitive 10yr old mind.

It was beyond creepy. Words don't do it justice, to be honest. Even my dad was kinda freaked out, and that was something I had never seen before. I've never seen that again, as many times as I've been up there, and I'm glad of that. It was disturbing enough the first time.

These are at the top of Windrock (East TN). Look great in pictures... but man. Leaves you kinda speechless when you see them. You can see them from counties away.

I've heard about Centralia and I've seen some pics floating around on the forum. I want to go there so bad. The whole gohst town/tradgic history thing intrigues me. Although I didn't know they had these windmils there as well. I will agree the are MASSIVE! No one will understand how big they are until they stand next to one.
