Let start listing places where we have had a positive experience, gotten a good deal or great service. There are always two sides to every story so let's do any bashing privately.

I'll start.

Took my soft top in today to get a new zipper, a couple of snaps replaced and a tear sewn up. Went here because they were the first place to pop up on google that was close to work.

Got my top back the same day, nice work and for a very fair price. Nice guys too.

I have used Ranch Muffler in Temecula for many things over the years and they are some good guys with decent prices. They have rock sliders and step on clearance now for I think $125, I saw a stack of them just inside their door this week.

dunno, never saw them. I called and talked to Chris, seemed like a really nice guy, very quick to answer and helpful.

Hey Rik, that Fab shop, you got stuff from them??

I went by and looked at them. They are really nice (body armor brand) but not the style I'm looking for. Those bolt to the body mount bolts and hang below the body like a nerf bar. Good quality tho'. I'm looking to CREATE clearance, not eliminate it, so those won't work. The guy there was pretty helpful tho'.

Re: the fab shop. Yes, they did some work on my Jeep and will be doing more. Mike is pretty sharp and is a great welder. They have all the fabbing toys. Just tell him I sent you (so he'll charge you more, kidding) and he will take care of you.

Here's more.

Kenyon Machine. Kenyon Machine, San Diego's Premier Automotive Machine Shop
I had them rebuild my motor a couple of years ago. Good guys, fast and a fair price.

Sparky's Transmission on Adams Avenue in SD
Did a fine job on my auto trans rebuild and only replaced the parts that needed changing.

East County Metals. East County Metal Supply Homepage

I have never bought more than a few pieces from the scrap pile but they are always friendly and helpful and seem glad for the business. Good prices too.

Ocean Beach Equipment Rentals.

There are closer places but I like these guys and go there when I need to rent something or to get propane tanks filled. They charge by the gallon if you get more than one take filled so it's cheaper than paying a flate rate per tank.

Going there on the way home tonight to get a floor sander.

My favorite restaurant in San Diego.

Fiddler's Green Fiddler's Green Restaurant, Shelter Island

Steve, the owner, is always there and will remember you and what you like.

Get the double thick pork chops, if they have any.

Take the 15 north, exit Hwy 76, turn left, cross the freeway, immediately on your right before the gas station. Little grey colored building. Looks like a dive, but good burgers. Very crowded on weekends around lunch.

Love this place. In National City right off the freeway.

ksurplus.com - industrial and surplus hardware

They have every size and type of bolt, nut screw and fastener and sell by the pound for most of it; way cheaper than Home Depot, Lowes or anywhere else in town. Also industrial hardware, bearings, tools and new and used junk.

I got the jeeped towed over to my friends house today. Now just waiting for him to tell me when we are going to get in fixed. But I found Segura's Towing he charged me 60 bucks to tow it from Mt Helix to Santee 11miles. No hook up fee or milage. Where one place I called was 49.95 to hook 10 per mile. Antonio was very nice, prompt and professional 619-977-2226 cell
