It looks like a 2 door JK with a wild boar fast back hard top and some bushwhacker fender flares... It will probably cost 45-50k so I think ill pass. Although it will probably come with a V-8 so it would be fun to have for a hauler.
Honestly though, how durable do you think a factory independent setup is going to be? To get that thing ready for real racing it would probably take thousands of dollars in suspension modifications. Rock crawling aside, off roading successfully usually takes flex - and I doubt the H4 is going to have a long travel suspension.
I never said it would be good at it, just that it's meant for it. If they really want to get serious about it being a viable attempt at a off road racer, they need to pay serious attention to what Ford did with the Raptor.
Don't know about the rest of you, but to me it looks really boring, it's trying to be a Jeep, while it's not. I would never want one of those, it lacks character. On the other hand, I've never liked any Hummers anyway. Waste of sheet metal.
I'm sorry to offend anyone, and that I was off topic. But the truth is My DD is a '99 F250 Super-Duty Power Joke so I have rights to speak my mind, thats all.
Back on topic, I think the Hummer looks pretty cool and capable. Will it ever really be compatable to the beloved Jeep? Not a chance.
I LIKE THE GRILL ,always have thought it was was real JEEP looking ( the round lites in rectangular surrounds blends old &new Jeep perfectly ) I'm sure AMC would have evolved to this design ( oh well , then theres MOPAR )
If the doors and top come off they will have a runaway hit on their hands. My question is why hasn't jeep come up with a redesign for the Wrangler line? The JK is nice but it isn't radical enough to turn Jeep/Chrysler around.
The JK has been a runaway success for Chrysler. It's one of their best-selling models right now, up there with the Ram and minivans. Hell, it was breaking into the top 20 for most of the year, and for quite a while was the only production vehicle showing month-over-month and year-over-year sales increases this year. It's outselling the TJ's numbers handily, is far and away Jeep's best-selling model, selling almost as much as every other Jeep save the Grand Cherokee combined.
Most of this has to do with the Unlimited, BTW. The 'Jeep Minivan' that so many of you guys bemoan accounts for about 60% of new Wrangler sales right now, and is the main reason the JK has been such a success-because you can actually use the words 'Wrangler' and 'practical' in the same sentence without a hint of irony.
Also, how are you guys getting that it looks like an FJ? I mean seriously? It's really more of a JK crossed with H3 styling, in fact, the biggest difference I noticed is that it has a hardtop that looks like it doesnt require a team of people or pulley system to lift! I will be very curious for the first few years of it's existence, if it shows it is capable, economical and practical, then dare I say watch out Wrangler :shhh:
