seriously, one of these threads needs to stay alive in the XJ/MJ section and what better time to get a real one going then now with the creation of the XJ/MJ GD. now, lets keep this going.

for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

picture a few posts down.

installed 2800 stall convertor on 2000 cherokee

i just finished installing a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 engine and a 2800 stall converter in my 2000 limited np 242 cherokee. had to cut one of the engine bosses down on the left side of engine block. used stock cherokee motor mounts and brackets. got rid of the those pesky inverted torx on the back top of the trans and swapped them for regular bolts. purchased the converter from superior transmissions in silver spring md which builds racing transmissions and does regular work. you can google them on the web. they ordered it from a company in TN i believe. now my jeep really takes off. will add some vacuum balls to increase power after i reconnect my transfer case, change diff oil, and purge the engine of air.

As if the stock XJ engine doesnt have enough pick up haha. Sounds like alot of work but I bet it flies. Im pretty satisified with the take-off speed my stock i6 has. Its funny, I can smoke 80% of the ricers around here off the line, and the look on their faces, priceless. Of course when I'm on the highway, I don't have much to brag about so I tend to ignore most of the guys flying by going 90+

x2, I blow cars away all the time in my XJ.

I feel so bad about it though since she's getting old and should be accelerated lightly in.

Stop "racing" grandmas and you won't have to worry about it

Idunno what you guys are talking about, my XJ is a freaking slug. Then again, I'm used to driving real cars that are actually fast.

I beat people all the time and don't even accelerate harder than like 2700 rpm.

I've seen some guys take theirs up to 4500 on a manual..

must be quick!

Ordered my 1.5" U-bolt eliminators, and frame stiffeners from TNT today.
Be sure you paint the frame rails with weld through primer before welding them on. Also, I wish I had drilled holes in the stiffeners before welding for rosette welds. Other than lots of wire brushing/grinding to get the goop off the frame, they aren't bad to install and really make a difference.

I was just thinking about weld through primer a little bit ago, and was going to do a search on the web for it, but forgot, thanks for reminding me. Anyone have any suggestions for a good weld through primer? Stripping everything isn't going to be too bad, I have access t a full body shop, including a lift, and an array of grinders.

All my local welding shops looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for it. My neighbor happened to have some and it was just barely enough. The flapper wheel seemed to work the best on the undercoating. Wear a mask and face shield.
