Tent trailer lift kit

I have found a few threads on lifted pop-up tent trailers, but I am just wanting some info on the process. I have an 03 Coleman utah with spring under axle suspension. My WJ is lifted 5" with 33's and I want to lift my pup so I don't rip anything off the backend as it sits pretty low. I know I can buy a larger drop hitch but I want to do a spring over on this to gain ground clearance. I have read that I should and should not flip the axle as these are set for camber and all that already? Is this true should I just pull the springs and drop the axle then bolt back together or should I flip the axle? Thanks for all your help in advance

The "axle flip" isn't really an axle flip at all. It's just a common name for a kit that you buy which places a SOA spring perch on the top of the axle and bolts to the original SUA spring perch. You have to be careful to keep the new perch exactly parallel to the original perch when you set it up, as these Dexter axles have a set to them, and rotating the axle will throw the tires out of alignment causing premature tire wear. It's also advised to at least tack-weld the new perches in place once they are set up correctly. It's one of the best mods I've done to our '98 Utah (pretty much the same floorplan as the later Bayside: slide-out dining, couch, double king beds, sleeps nine, yadda, yadda). For more info than you'd care to ever read on this and other modifications to a pop-up trailer, check out any of the Pop-Up Camper forums. But it really is that simple--- drop the springs, unbolt the axle, install the new perch, and bolt back together. Be careful though, starting to modify a pop-up is as slippery a slope as modifying a jeep. There's a LOT of things you can do to those trailers to make them more suitable for your needs.

Be advised, lifting the trailer will also mean your stabilizer jacks may not reach the ground on an uneven camp site, and your tongue jack may need to be upgraded to a larger size. The door step will also be higher from the ground. But, you can easily switch to a 14" trailer tire (available almost anywhere, and with a higher load rating), instead of using those damnable 13" Duro tires that are almost impossible to find if you need one on the road.

Thanks for the information Guys, Very Helpful. Can I pick up the spring perches anywhere or do I need to get one specific for my trailer? There is a company here that specializes in suspension work called Spec-trac, I should be able to get the perches from them right?
Thanks Again
