Anyone gotten the new MOPAR bumper yet? pictures? And how's the quality? is it close to ARB or AEV?
Also, I'm planning on going with the MileMarker hyd winch (don't want to start a winch debate here, for me the advantages of hydraulic outway electric. As I plan on using it for clearing tree tops from logging, trail maint, getting firewood, etc.) Any one installed one on a JK? How easy is the hookup?
shouldn't be any more difficult to fit a hydraulic winch, just plan the routing of the lines before the bumper is completely bolted on. measure twice, cut once.
I think that is a fine looking bumper myself, but I am going to go off-topic for a sec, are those the new MTRs and are those coming from the factory on the Jeep now, as I notice they are available in the stock Rubi size?
Here is a rugged ridge with similar styling that can be customized easily since it is a modular design. It can be made to look similar to the mopar and has d-rings etc.
I just complain a lot... My reasoning is the Mopar bumper is pretty slick, but the crush cans make it look...i don't know, bulky?...and once you take the cans off the hooks are just kind of out there... If they could make a version without the cans and with the hooks integrated into the bumper, then they would have something that I would have got in a heartbeat. For the price, it's pretty good, but it could have been amazing.
I have a Mopar rear and a RR front for this reason...
Oh, and back to one of the original questions. If the quality is anything near the rear bumper it is great; really beefy. The paint leaves something to be desired though. My rear bumper is already flaking and needs to be pulled and repainted.
I bought my mopar bumper before they started making them with the holes for the fog lights. I wanted to maintain the factory fog light switch and I was able to do so with a relay that use one of the factory fog light leads as a trigger. I am very happy with the quality of the mopar bumper. Bolt holes lined up correctly etc. Here is what it looks like:
Those bits over the crush cans look dumb to me (a bit like something Madonna may have worn on stage). Does anyone know if they are plastic or steel? If they are plastic they are going to get destroyed. If they are steel then that sort of defeats the object of the crush cans since the metal would have to deform before the crush can came into play.
That is really strange that they would put plastic crush cans on a metal bumper. Im gonna look into pricing at the dealer later this week. They currently have it listed around $550.
Crush cans allow you to bump into things at low speed without deploying air bags. There are no electronics or anything hooked up to them. It's just like a cushion so you don't have have an airbag deployment when you bump into something at low speed.
I'm definitely getting the factory offroad bumpers:2thumbsup:, can't beat the relative quality for the price (both for about $1k)...I really like the stuff ARB makes, but I'm not too savvy with an angle grinder (to do the crush cans) and the fact it costs $1500 for their uber cool one.
Totally off topic but are the tires on that display vehicle available in market or display only? When I look at Goodyear Wranglers on line they don't have aggressive tread like that.
