Awesome videos! In the third video where you stopped and started again on the incline - I could see the Compass struggling there. Was it locked in 4WD (50/50)? I can see how it not being able to lock into posi can quickly become a burden compared to other Jeeps.

None the less, you made it up the hill in the end. :)

4WD locked with ESP full off.
But the sand was too soft by then, the first attept (before filming) of such stop-and-go was successful as the sand was "undigged" and more firm then.
But this video convinced me, that FDI does not have rear differencial lock ... unfortunately.

PS. With a little speed this hill was no problem at all, with or without using 4WD lock or ESP.

I'm going to be picky - but I assume you mean Traction Control (TC) was off, or was Electronic Stability (ESP) off too?

I ask because I hit the ESP button, and it turns off the TC. If I fish tail in the snow/ice, the ESP still kicks in and straightens out the Jeep. Apparently you can hold the ESP to turn that off too - but I heard Canada considers that a safety thing, and therefore the computer won't let me. (I don't mind too much.)

I hold down the ESP-button for 7-8 seconds untill text "ESP OFF" was displayed on dashboard.
It should mean, that TC is off and ESP is full off (at such low speed, at least).
