Alright I started this post so I can get a feel of what you guys think about our YJ kits, I know that in the past we had leaf spring problems but we have gone to a different manufacturer and they are giving us a much better quality spring. Let me hear the good, the bad, the ugly. I want to be the link that will let us know what the YJ community thinks we could improve and what you want in a kit.

Feel Free to email me at ans@roughcounty.com or rchase@roughcountry.com:thumbsup:

Well let me tell you guys in the Jeepforum community that i am VERY pleased with Ryans customer service and fast reponses, i have delt with alot of companys when i was in the auto field and he has been the best so far! I had a problem with my XJ and a RC product and he took care of it in a timely and fashionably manor. I reccomend the RC packages to anybody who is looking for a great product and a good price. Thanks again and i will keep you guys posted.

BAGHHHH, I HATE UPS. One leaf spring showed up today. The rest is in the East Syracuse terminal and the buffalo terminal....

DID YOU READ THIS THREAD AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmm, no they do not.

Was my answer a bit harsh, yes, but I am sorry. You could have figured this out by reading at least the first few pages of the thread. RC has turned their product around IMHO. They are now a very decent kit with a good track record, to date. I think I can speak for the majority of new owners here and state that the product is night and day compared to the old stuff.

Hence why I ordered, and am now going to install one of their kits.

So I'm looking at the 2.5" lift kit. I'm pretty much sold on it, but I do have one or two questions about specifics.

My Jeep sees good use, but is also my daily driver. For a vehicle that's on the road as much as a trail, which shocks are best?

How does this specific lift affect my need for sway bars, how does it change that dynamic?

Thanks guys!
Sean

Sean - I did the 2.5" lift with 1" shackles about a month ago.

I went with the 9000 shock upgrade. I don't know the differences between the kit ones and the 9000's, but for the $25 difference (I think that's all it was), I figured I couldn't go wrong. The Jeep feels much better than it did stock over the bumps and humps of my daily driving.

I did away with both my front and rear track bars. There are stories saying both either are or aren't needed... I took mine off without any regrets and I added quick discos up front to the sway bar so I can pull that as needed when I go offroad.

You won't be disappointed with the kit, especially for the price.

Decent lift, But there will be issues

I'm fairly new to this forum. Seems to be a great community with valuable information
I'm in the middle of installing mine. I ordered the 4" RC lift from Ryan.
The kit is a great price and was shipped promptly.
Started it this weekend. First issue is that their is not a detailed list of the contents in the package. Therefore, when you start you're not assured that you have all of the parts. The first page tells you to compare the kits contents to a picture. The picture doesn't even show everything thats shipped.

The install started out great. Then on Sunday I came to a major halt due to some parts missing. I PM'ed Ryan on Sunday and haven't heard back. Guess I'll have to go try and round up these parts myself.
:brickwall
I've seen these problems noted with other forum posts.

Here's my opinion so far:
Pro's: Great Price, Fast delivery, Quality product.
Con's: No detalied parts list, Quality issue with parts kits (if something is missing you may be on your own).

I'll post more input as it progresses.

Here she is. FYI, this is not how all the parts are shipped, everything is in its own box/bag.

Rusty, I'm sure you won't need any help but if so I just did that exact same lift and if you run into any snags pm me your number or I'll send you my number and try to help you out best I can or atleast tell you how I got that (atleast one) stubburn bolt off. Good luck!!!

No worries gents. I have all replacement bolts and my welder handy if I bust the rear shock mounts. Will be installing this in the afternoon today. Hope to have some sort of writeup/pic thread by tomorrow morning. She's gonna look funny with 215/75/15 tires on her LOL.

No, Rusty will perma-ban any stubborn bolt off.

I want to see the Rustywrangler build thread!
I thought this was my build thread: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395594  :brickwall

SOrry gents, brother went to the ER tonight after we dropped the front axle on his forearm. Will have an update in the morning but the build thread will have to wait.

Just found out he did not break it but will still have some issues to deal with at the doc's in the AM.

Long evening.

After your PM to me about this I was yacking it up with a coworker and brought it up. He said the same thing happened to him here at work about 15 years ago when they were assembling a Nomad (with disc brakes), had a nice big scar and you could see where there was muscle damage underneath.
Oddly, I had never noticed it on him before.

So good thing your brother got the "better end" of the outcome, could have been much worse - as you know... obviously.

Sorry to hear that Rusty, hope he's ok.

I've been out of service for two weeks from a mishap with a boxblade. I've been cutting things properly for 25 years (ok, yeah, I'm old) but this one time I'm upside down cutting a hose (the wrong way ) and almost cut my arm off. Missed all the important stuff but still took 6 stitches. Sad thing was it wasn't even the Jeep I was working on.

Point is, it's easy to get in a hurry and do something stupid (my case, not necessarily your brothers) and accidents happen. I'm gonna make an extra effort towards safety, not having use of your hand for two weeks will wake you up!

Just figured I throw my 2 cents in. I just intalled a 4" RC kit the other day on my '93 YJ. installation went fairly easy only a few quarks to the system (i.e. the shims on the rear leaf packs were reversed it was a simple fix to loosen the packs and turn them the correct way; also the 3 bolts for the track bar brackets weren't listed so well in the directions to which bolt went where, it only took a few seconds to correct so no big deal; the only major issue was the rear track bar bracket didn't fit the original bracket on the frame, it was too wide we ended up having to bend the original bracket out some and pound the new bracket into the old one.) The thing I honestly liked about the installation was that we didn't have to disconnect any of the brake lines when we installed the extentsion brackets. Aside from these few issues I listed the whole kit was well put together and organized and would have been done and put together in 3 hours had it not been for the rear bracket issue. All in all loved the customer service, exceptional delivery time of 3 days and relatively straight forward assembly. As for the individuals that wrote that the suspension is rough I'm curious because mine rides great but then again my rig rides heavy due to accessories and recovery gear a rough ride was my stock suspension that was completely shot for the past 85k of its 185k life.

Do you have anyone running 35's with the 4"????

I have 1" lift bomerang shakles and the wheel wells cut out with TJ flares and have 33" Thornbirds (on 15x10 wheels) with about 4" clearance from the tire to the flare.

I was hoping I could stay with a 4" lift with this set-up and run 35's????

What do you guys think?

To be honest I have not seen any but I'm sure they are out there, since you have the cut fenders and TJ flares you should have enough room.

Got my 4" suspension system today with upgraded nitro shocks along with SS lines, 2.2 steering stabilizer, and sway bar disco's. Thankx Ryan!

Will post a pic of Jeep after Thanksgiving break.
