I would say buy the paint as DIY. 450 and they prep supply everthing might not be quite as bad as you think. I guess it depends on what kind of job your looking for. I have seen these things Powder Coated, sprayed with bedliner and painted with spray paint. Price also depends on color. Most shops around here are anywhere from $45 to $65 per hr. Preping, priming and painting I would say 4 to 6 hrs. Then etch primer $12 primer $18 basecoat 30 to 50 and clear coat another 30 to 50 so I can see 450. Best of luck JC
Yeah... I really wanted to avoid trying to DIY on this one, since I paid so much for the flares, I'd hate to screw it up.
Can you get paint matched to your jeep in a spray can? or do you have to buy a compressor and sprayer too? I guess for $450 I could pick up that equipment and the paint i would think.
Yes I believe you can get the jeep scaned and have a jobber put it a spray can. I have also used Prevail bottles which is basiclly a spray can on a jar. You put what ever you want in the jar and spray away. I have only used them for touch up or small pieces but I don;t see why it wouldn't work for ya. JC
I'm sure flat flares with a professional paint job would look great! I bought Rubi flares and had them painted black and clear coated at a family run auto body shop. $450 is about the going "retail rate" (I remember asking) as a professional job does require to sand, prime, paint and clear coat. Mine look great and I do get compliments. You may still find someone that will do it for less if their slow.
Who knows what it costs in your area except other people who live there? Get 3-5 estimates, go with a mid-bid as long as your confident they can do a good quality job...FYI, it's much more expensive to paint them after they are installed since the rest of the jeep must be masked off...
Hey todd, should have asked, i can do that too! I have everything to do that here at my house! Email me since i get on here maybe once a week!
